Shirogane

Shirogane usually looks like a round, fluffy white cat with closed eyes, making him appear harmless and cute.

When using his real power, Shirogane's true form is a giant, fierce-looking cat with a rope around his neck and fur that looks like fire or storm clouds.

He often changes his shape to appear as an ordinary cat or even a human, hiding his true power.

His cute cat disguise makes him popular among students and teachers at school.

However, he gets nervous around Masurao Sujimori, who tries to give him too much attention.

Shirogane refers to himself with a formal "I" and often ends sentences with "de aru," giving him an old-fashioned vibe.

He acts proud and strict as a king, demanding respect and order from other ayakashi.

Shirogane is greedy and always wants to get stronger, especially by eating Suzu Kanade.

Even though he tries to be dignified, he cares way too much about couples and dislikes seeing romantic moments, calling them “shameless.”

He's actually quite petty—he only used his famous gender-swap spell on Matsuri because he was jealous and didn't want Matsuri and Suzu to get together.

He enjoys simple pleasures, especially the "Suzu Dango" homemade treats Suzu gives him.

While other ayakashi recognize his strength, many see him as arrogant or even weak now that he lost much of his power, and some even rebel against him.

Shirogane started as a regular cat in the Edo period and eventually became a powerful ayakashi.

People first feared him, then worshipped him, and built a shrine for him.

Over time, as people modernized, they forgot about Shirogane and turned his old shrine into a place where couples went for dates.

Shirogane hated this, so he trained in the mountains and created the gender-swap spell, hoping to ruin the couples’ fun.

When he returned home, he found his shrine underwater due to a dam construction, making him very angry.

He then began attacking humans, turning into an evil ayakashi and fighting Seigen Kazamaki, grandfather of Matsuri, for years.

Eventually, he gave up and stopped caring about humans until the recent events.

Shirogane is known for his special spell called "Seisei Ruten" (Gender-Swap Transformation).

This spell changes the gender of the target, and only Shirogane can undo it.

If Shirogane dies before breaking the spell, it becomes a curse that can't be removed.

He can also transform himself into a human, a regular cat, or even hide his ayakashi energy.

In his weakened state, he can't fight strong ayakashi and is sometimes outmatched by even weak evil spirits.

His sense of smell is surprisingly not strong, even though he is a cat.

Matsuri Kazamaki

Shirogane and Matsuri are like cat and dog because Matsuri is an exorcist ninja and Shirogane is an ayakashi.

They always argue and fight over the scroll that holds Shirogane's sealed power.

Matsuri treats Shirogane poorly, only feeding him leftovers.

Even so, Shirogane respects Matsuri’s potential and is wary of his abilities.

Suzu Kanade

Suzu is Shirogane’s target because eating her would make him much stronger.

However, Suzu tries to be kind and friendly toward Shirogane, hoping to restore Matsuri’s gender and bring peace.

Shirogane enjoys eating Suzu's treats and sometimes likes being petted by her, though he always acts grumpy about it.

He gets nervous when Suzu starts daydreaming about romance.

Seigen Kazamaki

Seigen is Matsuri’s grandfather and was once Shirogane’s rival when Seigen was still active.

Now, they have a weirdly friendly relationship despite their stormy past.

Kanade

Kanade is Suzu's alternate personality, split into a separate being after she was injured.

Shirogane and Kanade become connected through Suzu during an important event.

Becoming the King of Ayakashi

Shirogane lived for over 400 years, becoming the powerful King of Ayakashi in the area around Omikoshi City.

He was once seen as a guardian god and was worshipped by the locals.

Losing His Power

As more people forgot the old ways, Shirogane’s shrine turned into a hangout for dating couples.

Hating romance, Shirogane developed his gender-swap spell to mess with couples.

But when he returned from training, he found his shrine destroyed by dam construction.

Enraged, he became a hostile ayakashi and fought with exorcist ninjas like Seigen.

The Sealing Incident

Shirogane tried to eat Suzu Kanade, the ayakashi medium, to become even stronger.

Matsuri Kazamaki stopped him by sealing away most of his power.

Right before being totally sealed, Shirogane cast the gender-swap spell on Matsuri, turning him into a girl.

Afterward, Shirogane couldn't return to his full form and was watched over by the Kazamaki family as their "pet cat."

Living as a Pet Cat

He keeps plotting to get his power back, trying to steal the scroll that seals his strength.

Still, he depends on Suzu's treats and kindness and slowly starts to care about her and the others.

He becomes a regular at their high school, hiding his true identity in his cat form.

Shirogane grows a bit closer to Matsuri after they team up to fight against another dangerous ayakashi, Sousuke Hinojiki.

Eventually, Shirogane stops trying to eat Suzu for good.

Shirogane, despite his "King" title, only rules over the local area and doesn't control all ayakashi in Japan.

His dislike of couples mainly comes from his old shrine being used as a date spot, which made him invent his gender-swap magic out of spite.

His true power is sealed in a scroll that Matsuri guards closely.

Even with most of his abilities gone, Shirogane's history, magical tricks, and grumpy ways make him a fun and memorable character in Ayakashi Triangle.
