Ryuuji Suguro

A young student at the exorcism academy. Aspires to be a Dragon Knight and Chanting Knight. Belongs to the Special Advancement Class 1-A at True Cross Academy High School. Junior head priest at the Fudo Peak Suguro Temple of the Myo-o Dharani Sect.

Son of a prestigious temple in Kyoto, speaks in Kyoto dialect. Called "Bon" by Renzo and Konekomaru. Tall and well-built, with a delinquent appearance (blonde hair with gold highlights, multiple earrings). Despite his appearance, he is academically excellent, serious, and hardworking. Like Yukio, he received a scholarship to enter True Cross Academy and joined the exorcism academy against his parents' wishes.

Has a good memory and performs well academically at the academy. He is prone to being emotional, and initially often clashed with Rin and Izumo. He has a bad habit of relying too much on chanting due to his high memory, which Konekomaru once pointed out as being "one-pattern." He has also undergone training as a Dragon Knight, and from the Izumo arc, he has been permitted to use a bazooka in actual combat.

Born into the head priest family of the Myo-o Sect, his father Daruma is a survivor of the "Blue Night." After the Blue Night, the temple where Ryuuji was raised became known as the "Cursed Temple" and fell into decline. Therefore, he is determined to defeat Satan and rebuild the temple. He resented Daruma's actions and attitude, but after all the secrets were revealed, he inherited the familiar Garuda from Daruma.

He was deeply shocked by the Illuminati's declaration of war and Renzo's betrayal during the night of the True Cross Academy Festival, to the point where he considered dying with him in a crisis. However, he calmed down with Rin's encouragement and set off for Inou in Shimane, a place of fate for the Illuminati. Even after Renzo returned to the exorcism academy, Ryuuji could not fully trust him, but through dialogue, he felt relieved that his essence had not changed.

After the Impure King arc, as the disciples each began to walk their own paths, he lost his ambition to defeat Satan and gather the disciples again, and continued to agonize over whether all his efforts as a descendant of the head priest's lineage had been meaningless. However, after the Izumo arc, he fell in love with the talent of Lightning, who had been appointed as a teacher, and asked to become his disciple. Since Lightning himself is not good at teaching, Ryuuji usually steals techniques while working like a manager nearby. Since becoming a disciple, he has cut his hair short and returned to black hair. As a disciple, he takes care of the sloppy Lightning and assists him in uncovering secrets hidden in the Japanese branch. During the investigation, he was pained by the death of people but tried to be a brake for his master, unexpectedly learning significant truths such as the real story of the "Blue Night."
