Boer is the village elder and acting village chief in Haré+Guu, a formidable old man best known for his endlessly regenerating chest hair and his deep fear of Guu.
Name: Boer
Gender: Male
Age at the beginning: 89
Boer serves as the elder of the village and also functions as its chief.
He is the great-grandfather of Toposte.
Later in the story, he steps down from his position as elder as part of a generational transition.
Even after leaving the post, he remains a memorable figure in the village.
Boer’s most famous physical feature is his thick, shaggy chest hair.
It is so iconic that it becomes central to several of his major story events.
His chest hair normally grows back immediately even when plucked out.
This unusual trait makes it feel almost indestructible at first.
Guu plucked out Boer’s chest hair twice, and after that, it stopped growing back.
To hide the problem, Boer resorted to wearing a chest-hair wig.
The loss of his chest hair threw him into a serious slump.
Because of that emotional collapse, he escaped into an ideal dream world of his own creation and would not wake up.
After Guu resolved the issue, the hair-growing power that had been building up inside him suddenly burst free.
His chest hair then grew so explosively that it covered his entire house.
The growth has since calmed down.
Even so, his body is now covered all over in dense clumps of hair.
Boer’s natural chest hair and the clumps of hair that have fallen out are connected as warp zones.
Some of these warp links are also connected to Dama’s afro hair.
This gives his hair an absurdly bizarre function beyond simple regrowth.
It turns one old man’s chest hair into part of the series’ surreal comedy.
Because of the chest-hair incidents, Boer is extremely afraid of Guu.
She has left a lasting impression on him in the most traumatic way possible.
It is also implied that Guu shaved his chest hair while in her adult form.
Even so, Boer appears to recognize adult Guu and child Guu as the same person.
