Character Setting

Edit

Weda is a major supporting heroine in Haré+Guu, the mother of Haré and later Ame, known for her striking mix of sloppiness, toughness, natural charm, and intense maternal love.

Weda is Haré’s mother and one of the series’ central female characters.

At the beginning of the story, she is 25 years old.

She is especially skilled at hunting and is portrayed as a bold, upbeat, and instinctive woman.

Although she often behaves carelessly in private, her love for her son is exceptionally deep.

In everyday life, Weda is notably lazy and disorganized.

She leaves household chores to Haré, wanders around in her underwear, and frequently drinks heavily.

Despite these flaws, she is far from cold or neglectful at heart.

Her affection for Haré is sincere, even if her easygoing nature can make that hard to see at times.

She is also an extreme airhead to the point that even her son and husband can be exasperated by her.

Even so, several men, including Uigul and Robert, are attracted to her.

After becoming pregnant with Ame, she marries Clive.

Following Ame’s birth, her personality and behavior become somewhat calmer and more settled.

In the anime adaptation, her laziness remains, but her tendency to throw others into chaos is toned down compared with the manga.

Her occasional harshness toward Haré also remains, and there are moments where she visibly prioritizes Guu over him.

Weda is a vivid contrast of strengths and weaknesses.

She is free-spirited, positive, aggressive in attitude, and full of momentum.

At the same time, she is careless in domestic life and generally takes things lightly.

Her attitude toward daily responsibilities is so loose that Haré is often the more dependable one at home.

What makes her memorable is that none of this erases her warmth.

She genuinely loves her child more deeply than most people around her realize.

Before moving to the jungle, she was completely different.

As a child and young girl, she was sickly, shy, and the type to suppress her own emotions.

Life in the jungle transformed her.

There, she developed into a strong-willed, optimistic, and forward-driving woman.

Weda was born into the prestigious urban Fierstein family.

She is the youngest of three siblings, with one older brother and one older sister.

Because she was often ill as a child, she spent long periods in the hospital.

This frailty shaped her early personality into a quiet and passive one.

At age 14, she became pregnant with Haré.

As a result, her father disowned her, and she moved to the jungle.

Although she was expelled from the Fierstein family, she still retained the right to inherit her father’s estate.

This later led to her life being targeted by her nephew Alva, who opposed her claim.

By the middle part of Haré+Guu, after Belle and Ashio came to the jungle, contact with the Fierstein family resumed.

Reconciliation gradually began from there.

Weda had long resented both parents.

She hated her father for disowning her, and she hated her mother for failing to protect her.

Through Haré’s actions, however, she eventually changed her view.

In the Concrete Jungle arc, she repairs her relationship with her estranged mother, Sharon Fierstein.

By the final episode, she returns home together with her husband.

Her ties with the family are shown to be healing.

Her relationship with the family servants was much better from the beginning.

She got along well with people from her household, including Belle and Ashio.

Haré

Haré is Weda’s son, and the emotional core of her character is her love for him.

Even though she often acts casually and irresponsibly, her attachment to him is very strong.

That love is not always expressed in a clear or gentle way.

Because Weda treats most things loosely, the depth of her feelings can be easy to overlook.

Clive

Clive is the father of Haré and later Weda’s husband.

Originally, their history was troubled, as Clive had forced himself on her in a way that led to her pregnancy and disownment.

Because of that, Weda did not reveal Haré’s father’s identity to her family.

Her true feeling was that she did not want anything more to do with Clive.

After they met again, however, she seems to have moved past much of that bitterness.

They eventually marry when she becomes pregnant with their second child, Ame.

Even so, Weda describes her relationship with Clive in an unusual way.

As she tells Robert, she sees Clive fundamentally as “another person,” and their bond exists through Haré and Ame.

She recognizes the relationship as unstable and not something guaranteed to last forever.

Still, she chooses to remain with him, and to her, that choice itself carries meaning.

Ame

Weda becomes pregnant with Ame after reuniting with Clive.

That pregnancy becomes the direct reason for their marriage.

After Ame is born, Weda shows a calmer and more mature side.

She is then depicted as a mother of two with more settled behavior.

Rebecca

Weda is close friends with her neighbor Rebecca.

Because they are close in age, their relationship is especially easygoing and friendly.

Marie

When Marie lost her parents as an infant, Weda helped care for her.

She and Regi even looked after Marie through breastfeeding and other childcare.

This detail reflects how good Weda’s relationships are with the people around her.

Despite her personal messiness, she is socially warm and well liked.

Ashio

In her girlhood, Weda once had feelings for Ashio.

Later, when he comes to the jungle, he becomes part of the renewed contact between Weda and the Fierstein family.

Weda stands out as a character who combines comedy, chaos, and emotional weight.

She can be exasperating, seductive, absurdly natural, and deeply human all at once.

Her story also carries themes of exile, motherhood, family rupture, and reconciliation.

From a disowned pregnant teenager to a strong jungle mother and eventually a woman reconnecting with her past, she undergoes one of the richer personal arcs in the series.
