Appearing from the weekly serialization. Shouya's mother. She runs a barbershop and cuts Shouko's hair in the side story. Although she laments the issue of Shouko's bullying by Shouya, there is no depiction of her properly scolding him. Additionally, she does not seem to pay attention to Shouya's sister bringing different boyfriends home, showing a rather laissez-faire attitude in terms of education. Blood type B.

However, she still possesses love and responsibility as a parent. She immediately compensates the total damage of 1.7 million yen for Shouko's hearing aids and usually treats her children kindly, making her one of the few sensible and child-loving adults in a story filled with problematic adults.

In the high school arc, she is delighted when Shouya repays the compensation amount for the hearing aids to his parents and congratulates him. However, upon seeing the unusually organized state of his room, she suspects the possibility of her son's suicide. To dissuade him from committing suicide, she threatens to burn the repaid 1.7 million yen, and upon receiving Shouya's apology, who had already decided against suicide, she feels relieved. However, in the process, the envelope containing the money catches fire and burns completely. She then makes him promise to repay the amount with the will to live and sends him off with a smile.

Since she handles both work and housework alone, she is often seen cooking meals using a hot plate in the story.

Her name was not set during the serialization, but it was decided during a meeting between Yoshitoki Oima and the staff for the theatrical anime adaptation.
