Hiroko Yamada is a female supporting character in Haré+Guu, a 22-year-old office lady from Kyushu who lives inside Guu's body and is known for her sharp Hakata dialect, heavy cynicism, and destructive emotional streak.
Name: Hiroko Yamada
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Occupation: Office lady
Place of origin: Kyushu
Voice actor: Ayumi Furuyama
Hiroko Yamada is one of the residents of the world inside Guu's body.
She is a beautiful young woman from Kyushu and speaks in the Hakata dialect.
Before ending up there, she had been having an affair with her boss at work.
After the relationship collapsed, she fell into despair and attempted suicide by throwing herself into the Genkai Sea.
She did not die, however, and instead drifted in the ocean.
While Guu was catching fish, Guu accidentally swallowed her whole.
Although Hiroko is beautiful, her personality is deeply troubled.
She has a dark, venomous outlook and openly wishes for the unhappiness of all humanity except herself.
She is especially known for her toxic negativity.
Her speech is often filled with bitterness, resentment, and emotionally destructive comments.
When enraged, she becomes terrifyingly intense.
At those moments, she unleashes a forceful, low-toned Hakata dialect and barrels ahead in a furious verbal rampage.
She also shows signs of a split or unstable personality.
This adds to her unpredictability and makes her one of the more dangerous presences around others.
Hiroko constantly carries the cheap sake Demon Slayer with her.
This has become one of her most recognizable quirks.
She occasionally vents her hatred and bitterness toward the former boss with whom she had the affair.
Her grudges remain strong long after the relationship ended.
At times, her negativity turns extreme enough that she tries to take Haré down with her in a murder-suicide impulse.
These moments highlight just how unstable and self-destructive she can be.
After she begins living inside Guu's body, Hiroko gradually becomes less explosively violent than she was at first.
Her earlier wild outbursts fade somewhat, even though her poisonous attitude remains.
She continues to stand out for her bleak worldview and acid-tongued remarks.
Even so, her role inside Guu's internal world becomes more settled over time.
In the final episode, Guu disappears, and Hiroko is returned to the real world in a state of amnesia.
She is eventually found there without her memories.
Like Seiichi Tachibana and Tomoyo Mamo, she had also been treated as a missing person.
