Darkness

Kazuma's party's crusader. A young noblewoman from the distinguished Dustiness family. She dislikes being called by her real name "Lalatina," which is considered cute, so she usually goes by the name "Darkness." She is 18 years old (about 22 years old in the web version). She has long blonde hair styled in a ponytail. Although she is a beautiful woman with blue eyes and a voluptuous body, she is troubled by her well-toned abs due to her training as a crusader.

She is a true masochist who desires physical pain and to be verbally abused. In battles against the Demon King's army or monsters, she eagerly jumps to the front line to be hit and feels supreme joy when caught in the crossfire of friendly attack magic. However, when insults are directed at her companions, she becomes unforgiving, showing her caring nature. She tends to regress to childish speech and behavior when excited.

Desiring to join Kazuma's party after witnessing a disastrous encounter with a Giant Toad, she expresses her wish to join anew after seeing her friend Chris's pants getting "stolen" by Kazuma. Eventually, she naturally joins the party after a cabbage subjugation event that happens immediately after.

Despite possessing considerable power as a noble, she has decided not to use it unless absolutely necessary, reluctantly making use of it only during emergencies as per Kazuma and the others' expectations. She is also a devout follower of the Eris faith, regularly visiting the Eris church to pray for comrades and to mourn those who die in battle.

In battle, she is terribly unskilled with the sword despite wielding a two-handed sword, stubbornly refusing to learn skills that would improve her sword's hit rate. While her attacks hardly ever hit, all her skill points are devoted to defensive skills, and her armor, which includes a small amount of adamantite, provides exceptionally high defense. Before joining Kazuma's party, she served as the frontline in various parties and is highly rated as a shield bearer. She also plays the role of sharing her vitality through Kazuma's Drain Touch when allies like Wiz are weakened by holy attributes (such as getting caught in Aqua's purification magic).

Even after joining the party, her masochism and clumsiness often hinder them, but as they adventure together, she begins to develop feelings for Kazuma, who has the attribute of a "NEET," which she surprisingly finds attractive. After Kazuma saves not only Darkness but also the entire Dustiness family from an Alderp conspiracy, her feelings for him become definitive. Despite confessing to Kazuma, he rejects her citing the presence of Megumin. Nonetheless, she continues to make advances towards Kazuma when they are alone, though it usually ends with someone catching them.
