Megumin

A young girl from the Crimson Demon clan who joins Kazuma's party, she is an Arch Wizard who exclusively loves the most powerful advanced attack magic, "Explosion Magic." She ages from 13 to 14 years old (Volume 4) (around 17 in the web version). She is also the protagonist of the spin-offs "A Wonderful World with a Blazing Flame!" and "Continued: A Wonderful World with a Blazing Flame!"

She has the characteristic crimson eyes of her clan, prefers to wear a black cloak and robe with a pointy hat, and sports an eyepatch over her left eye. She is petite, slim, and flat-chested, often treated like a child by Kazuma and the others, which she is conscious about.

Her first-person pronoun changes to "I" when she exhibits symptoms of "chuunibyou," but normally she uses "I." At home, she wears red pajamas. Her dream is to "become a great magician and grow big breasts." She has a weakness for small and cute creatures, including her familiar, Chomusuke.

When she tried to join the party, she was almost rejected by Kazuma because the only magic she could use was Explosion Magic, which she could only cast once.

She is usually calm, but not infrequent in panicking when unexpected situations arise. It is a creed of the Crimson Demons to "buy a fight when sold one," and her tone changes abruptly when provoked, showing no mercy even to ordinary people.

She has a somewhat grandiose demeanor and a strange sense of naming, often confusing Kazuma and the others with her poor naming sense.

Born in the Crimson Demon village to her father Hyoizaburo and mother Yuiyui, her family is poor due to her father's unsuccessful business.

As a child, she accidentally broke a seal that even sage-level adults could not easily break, using it as a toy, and became fascinated by Explosion Magic after a "magical sister" repelled the "black beast (Evil God Wolbach (black cat))" that appeared with Explosion Magic.

She was the top student at the Crimson Demon school, but continued to save skill points for Explosion Magic despite meeting the conditions for learning advanced magic.

Her initial type was the opposite of Kazuma, but over time, a trust relationship was built, and she developed romantic feelings for him, confessing in Volume 5 of the original series. After a slow love rivalry with Darkness until Volume 11, Kazuma realized his feelings for Megumin following her confession in Volume 12, and they decided to keep it a secret from their friends for now, maintaining a relationship that is more than friends but less than lovers. In an interview in the movie pamphlet, the author explicitly stated that she is a suitable partner for Kazuma.

Megumin's familiar (pet), a black cat with wings. Female. After assimilating with Wolbach, she became fond of baths.

Picked up by Komako in the Crimson Demon village, she has been Megumin's pet since then and left the village with her. Occasionally breathes fire or flies with her wings (the fire-breathing was taught by Cecily).

Initially unnamed, her classmates started calling the black cat "Megumin" when she brought it to school, leading to confusion and suggestions for the human Megumin to change her name. The issue was temporarily resolved when Yunyun gave the cat the provisional name "Kuro," but this name was considered strange by the majority of the Crimson Demon clan, so Megumin later named her (despite being female) "Chomusuke."

She is friendly and timid, well-loved by Megumin, Yunyun, Kazuma, and Darkness, but for some reason, dislikes Aqua. She has a bad compatibility with Zel Emperor, who possesses Aqua's magical power, and is often chased around by him. In the Crimson Demon village, she was afraid of Komako trying to eat her.

Her true identity is the lazy and tyrannical goddess Wolbach's other half, the Tyrannical Magical Beast. When the seal was broken, she lost her memories as an evil god, which is why she did not approach her subordinate demon (Arnes).

After the defeat of the lazy goddess Wolbach, she underwent slight changes in mind and body, correcting her dislike of baths and reacting to the word "Wolbach."
