Someji Kawamoto

The maternal grandfather of the Kawamoto family. He is the father of Mikako and Misaki, and the owner of the Japanese confectionery shop, Mikazuki-do. He dearly loves his granddaughters, especially the youngest, Momo. Having lost his parents and younger brother during his childhood after the war, he lived diligently, which gives him a deep connection with Rei, who has a similar background. He is also a fan of shogi and takes an interest in Rei's matches.

Initially, he lived by the creed "Live as you like and die as you like," but after losing his wife and daughters, he resolved to "cling to life even if it means clinging to a rock," ensuring that the three sisters would never have to stand alone in front of the folding screen. He regularly visits an old family doctor for check-ups. During the story, he collapses due to arrhythmia and is hospitalized, but later discharged.

He despises Seijiro, who ruined the lives of his daughter Mikako, his wife Aya, and his granddaughter Akari for his own selfish desires, and continues to harbor these feelings.
