Beneath his stoic exterior, Shinigami is rather shy and reserved, sometimes awkward in social situations.

He uses a Kansai accent when he speaks, adding a regional flavor to his mannerisms.

He isn't above lightly teasing others, often making snarky comments about Red-Root Violet's behavior.

He is loyal and responsible, especially in his duties as a guardian, but carries deep-seated resentment toward human cruelty.

Shinigami is the guardian overseeing the border between life and death in Kamome Academy’s supernatural world.

His true identity is Hakubo, once a demon who served the Minamoto clan as caretaker of their sacrificial priestesses.

After Red-Root Violet was offered as a sacrifice, Hakubo, consumed by rage, massacred the villagers and was finally slain at the altar.

After death, he gained the power to govern life and death and became one of the Seven Wonders, just as Red-Root Violet had predicted.

His power awakened further after reconnecting with his past.

His original name, Hakubo, was revealed in the story, and he was once the demon Shuten-Douji, who was defeated and bound by Minamoto Raikou.

Shinigami holds dominion over death, able to bring an end to living things or resurrect the departed.
