Kiyosato Akira

A member of the Kyoto Watchmen. The second son of a retainer. In April 1864 (Genji 1st year), one month before his wedding with his childhood friend (Tomoe), he was killed by Battousai. His death led to Tomoe being used for revenge. Although his sword skills were not remarkable (later, Tomoe also stated that he was "hopeless in both literary and martial arts"), he managed to wound Battousai's left cheek out of sheer determination just before dying. He was the first person to convey to Battousai, at the risk of his life, that "the will to live is stronger than anything." According to Tomoe, although he lacked the aforementioned literary and martial skills, he had a good personality and was well-liked by those around him, resembling Tomoe's father. However, despite Tomoe feeling happy, there seemed to be something missing from the clumsy Tomoe's happiness. One of the reasons he joined the Watchmen was his desire to achieve success and become someone to be proud of before getting married. Additionally, although not to the extent of Kenshin, Enishi did not view his relationship with Tomoe favorably and reportedly confronted him about the marriage (however, since he agreed to Tomoe's vendetta, it seems there was some affection involved).
