Izuku Midoriya

The protagonist of this work, born in Shizuoka Prefecture. A male student in Class 1-A at U.A. High School, he is characterized by his small stature, curly green hair, and freckles on his face. He is the ninth inheritor of the One For All Quirk.

His childhood friend Bakugo derogatorily calls him "Deku," but Uraraka takes it positively as meaning "You can do it," and he later adopts it as his hero name.

He often wears plain clothes with "XX shirt" (where XX can be "T," "Y," "Polo," "Dress," etc.) written on them. He has a habit of muttering with his hand to his mouth when deep in thought, with his speech bubbles and background often filled with the repeated words "Mutter mutter..."

His driving forces are "becoming a hero" and "saving someone in crisis," and he meticulously calculates the actions of heroes around the world, recording them in his notebooks. He excels at assessing the overall situation and information about others to determine the best course of action, often managing to counter opponents with powerful Quirks with his quick thinking and courage. In emergencies, he acts without regard for his own injuries, initially causing concern among his peers due to the cumulative damage from overusing his Quirk, leading him to prioritize his own safety to better save others as a hero.

Originally Quirkless, which is rare in the "fifth generation," he has always admired All Might, the hero who "saves everyone in trouble." As a child, being Quirkless led to isolation and ridicule from Bakugo and others, but after inheriting a Quirk from All Might, he gained attention in his class through his Quirk Apprehension Test and victory in combat training against Bakugo, making new friends.

His costume, based on a design he drew in his notebook, was handmade by his mother. It was heavily damaged during combat training with Bakugo and sent for repairs, later being unilaterally upgraded by the support company to a cooler "Mom-made Suit β." Before obtaining his provisional hero license, he transitioned to using kicks, leading to the development of "Costume γ" with support gear to reduce the strain on his arms and iron soles for his legs. After mastering Air Force, devices to assist with its use were added.

Quirk: One For All (OFA)

An enhancement-type Quirk passed down from All Might. It activates when he shouts "SMASH!!" either out loud or in his mind.

Initially, he could only use it at "100%" output, causing injuries to the activated parts, so his goal became to use it at a safe "5%" output. Under Gran Torino's guidance during his internship, he learned to view his Quirk not just as a special move but as a natural part of him, leading to the development of "One For All: Full Cowl," which allows him to activate 5% across his whole body. He continued to increase his body's tolerance while reducing reliance on his fists (right arm) due to repeated strain, eventually developing "One For All: Full Cowl - Shoot Style," which focuses on kicking.

"One For All" has passed the singularity point, containing the consciousness and Quirk factors of the second to seventh inheritors. During joint combat training with Class B, the growth of "One For All" began manifesting these six Quirks, and dialogue in the spiritual world with past inheritors allowed for the full release of "One For All's" power. The six Quirks are enhanced beyond their original strength due to "One For All."

Inheriting "One For All" in someone who already possesses a Quirk risks overwhelming their body's capacity and shortening their lifespan due to the strain of holding multiple Quirks. However, for a Quirkless person, "One For All" itself becomes their Quirk and fits within their body's capacity, eliminating this risk. According to Yoichi, the first user, the power passed from person to person somehow works best when inherited by those who originally had none.

Quirk: Blackwhip

The fifth inheritor's Quirk. Activates with the intent to "capture" or "grab," releasing black, whip-like energy from the arms to seize distant objects. Enhanced by the accumulated power in "One For All," it can destroy surrounding buildings when activated uncontrollably.

Quirk: Float

The seventh inheritor, Nana Shimura's Quirk.

Allows the user to levitate. Enhanced by "One For All," it can now lift not only the user but also people around them.

Quirk: Danger Sense

The fourth inheritor, Hikage Shinomori's Quirk. Still in training, it places a great strain on the user.

Detects imminent threats to the user, sounding an alarm, but does not react to attacks from those without hostile intent.

Quirk: Smokescreen

The sixth inheritor, En's Quirk.

Emits smoke from the body. The amount of smoke has increased due to "One For All," but this also makes it difficult to control the quantity released. The physical strain is relatively low, and there is no recoil from using the smokescreen at full power.

Quirk: Fa Jin

The third inheritor's Quirk.

Stores kinetic energy in the body through repeated movements like squats, allowing the stored energy to be released at will. Even when added to "One For All's" output, it does not cause self-destruction.

Izuku can use "One For All" at 45% output without self-destructing, combining it with Blackwhip and the kinetic energy from Fa Jin to replicate the movements and power of All Might's "One For All" at 100% without the risk of self-destruction, creating a "Pseudo 100%." He has also developed "Black Chains," a strengthened capture combo by storing Fa Jin in Blackwhip, enhancing its output.

Quirk: Transmission

The second inheritor's Quirk.

Controls the speed of objects in stages, like shifting gears in a manual car. Unlike ordinary speed control, it operates independently of inertia, allowing for sudden stops and accelerations that are not normally possible. The gears range from first to fifth, and Izuku controls the stages by moving his arm like a car's shift lever.

According to the second user, the Quirk was originally limited to small objects, but it has evolved into a "very peculiar power" due to growth from "One For All," expanding the interpretation of its application. It has grown to affect even individual cells and, combined with the pure "power" accumulated in "One For All," can distort even the laws of the world to enable attacks that leave sound behind.

Like Fa Jin, it can be applied to other Quirks, reducing the charge time for kinetic energy in Fa Jin and allowing a full charge with a single strike.

According to the second user, the enhancement from "One For All" has dangerously mutated the Quirk, making it a "very peculiar form" that cannot be handled as before, advising Izuku to keep "Transmission" as a last resort.

Using "Transmission" causes a reaction in the affected cells, making it impossible to breathe for about five minutes after use. The cells must rest before breathing can resume, rendering the user completely immobile.
