Character Setting

Edit

Sandra is a special mandragora girl who looks like a 5 or 6-year-old child but is actually over 300 years old. Thanks to her age, she can talk and move like a human, which is extremely rare. She was chased by witches and elves because mandragoras are valuable, but Azusa Aizawa saved her. Now, Sandra lives happily in Azusa’s home and helps care for the vegetable garden. She may be ancient, but she is treated like the third daughter of the house, with a unique mix of stubbornness and kindness.

Sandra appears as a small girl, around 5 or 6 years old.

Her body is made of roots since she is a plant.

Her hair looks like green leaves, not human hair.

She usually wears clothes, imitating human fashion.

Sandra cannot walk on the ground for long because of her roots, but can easily move through the soil.

Sandra has a unique way of thinking because she is a plant.

She is stubborn and can act cold, especially when she first meets someone.

Sandra can be a bit of a tsundere, acting tough even if she cares inside.

She sometimes tries to threaten others by imitating animal growls and roars, which she learned by watching animals.

Although Sandra is much older, she acts like a younger sister to Falfa and Shalsha.

Sandra was once just an ordinary mandragora.

Mandragoras are known to start moving and talking like humans after 300 years.

After reaching 300 years, Sandra gained human-like intelligence and the ability to walk and talk.

Because this is extremely rare, Sandra is not even found in the official records of the demon territory.

When Sandra changed, she stayed near human homes and slowly learned to speak and dress like people.

Afraid of being captured by witches and elves, she hid in the overgrown garden of Beelzebub’s mansion.

Sandra is a plant, so she gets energy from sunlight through photosynthesis.

She does not eat food like humans.

She can absorb water through her body, but can also drink with her mouth if she wants.

Sandra can move underground by burrowing with her roots.

She cannot take baths, or she might suffer from root rot.

Sandra can drink alcohol without problems because of her plant body.

She helped Azusa’s household grow tastier and healthier vegetables in the garden.

Sandra was saved and named by Azusa Aizawa, who treats her like a third daughter.

Although she is much older, Falfa and Shalsha see her as a younger sister and teach her reading, writing, and math.

Sandra thinks of Falfa and Shalsha as children because of her true age.

She initially did not get along with Halkara and Flatorte, but must get on well with everyone to stay.

Eno scares Sandra, because Eno wanted to capture her as an ancient mandragora.

Now that Sandra is safe, Eno only takes one of Sandra’s leaves occasionally with permission.

Sandra helps the family, especially with the garden.

The 300-Year Transformation

Sandra started out as a regular mandragora.

Once she lived for over 300 years, she transformed, becoming able to talk, move, and look like a human girl.

Learning from Humans

After her change, Sandra listened to people near their houses to learn how to speak.

She also copied humans and started wearing clothes.

Hiding from Danger

Afraid of being caught by witches and elves who use mandragoras for magic, Sandra hid in the wild garden of Beelzebub’s mansion.

She tried to stay hidden and safe.

Meeting Azusa and Moving to a New Home

One day, Azusa Aizawa noticed Sandra.

Azusa told her friend Eno, not knowing that Eno was searching for old mandragoras.

This led to a big chase, with many witches trying to catch Sandra.

Seeing that Sandra was scared and in trouble, Azusa quickly moved to protect her and brought her to live at the highland home.

Sandra got her name from Azusa, who chose “Sandra” because Sandra said she loves soil, and “sand” is part of the name.

Settling into Family Life

Sandra now lives in Azusa’s home, spending most of her time in the vegetable garden.

She became close to the family, although at first, she was shy and stubborn around new people.

Sandra also travels to Fleta Village with Falfa and Shalsha for shopping.

Unique Adventures

Sandra has faced some strange troubles only a plant could have, like mushrooms growing on her head or growing bigger after getting fertilizer.

She was also an important reason why the taste of vegetables improved at Azusa’s home, helping Falfa and Shalsha start eating more vegetables.

Sandra’s real birthday is unknown, so she shares it with Azusa, Falfa, and Shalsha on May 17th.

She cannot join in household chores because she does not eat, but she works hard in the vegetable garden.

Sandra gets along better with plants than with animals, and she is always careful around people who might want to use her as a magic ingredient.

Sandra is nervous around Eno because of their history.

She is not seen in season 1 of the anime, but there are hints and she officially appears in season 2.

Her voice actress is Yui Ogura.
