Tatsumi

The leader of the Yaminobu. Refers to himself as "I". A practitioner of the Invincible Style, he uses cunning strategies in addition to the Invincible Style in the Forest of Barriers to torment Battousai, but is slain along with Tomoe when he attempts to attack Tatsumi. He is Inui's mentor, but is regarded as a loser by him due to his defeat by Battousai. In the story, he is depicted as a cold-hearted character who tries to dispose of Tomoe once she is no longer useful, but in the OVA, there is a scene where he advises Tomoe against suicide, showing understanding towards Battousai who fights for what he believes in, revealing a noble side.

Revised in the Complete Edition Volume 22: Redesigned with an image source of a demon. Has sharp teeth and horns on his head.

Live-action film version: His personality is influenced by the OVA version, believing that protecting the Tokugawa shogunate is connected to safeguarding the peace and happiness of the people. Unlike the original work and OVA, he does not use the Invincible Style and fights using a sword.
