The model for the folk tale "Liar Norland" from the North Blue. An adventurer and botanist who overcame numerous difficulties that were hard to distinguish between truth and lies. He has a cross-shaped scar on his chest and, like his descendant Cricket, has a chestnut on his head. He was boisterous yet moral and polite, beloved by his subordinates and countrymen. Skilled in combat, he could take down giant fish underwater and crossed swords on equal terms with Calgara.

About 400 years ago, during a visit to the distant land of Jaya, he disrupted the Shandia ritual of sacrificing a life to stop the "Tree Fever" epidemic, unable to accept it. Nearly killed by Calgara who insisted on proceeding with the ritual, he desperately persuaded him and saved the village, becoming close friends. Later, he cut down trees infected with Tree Fever, but these trees were sacred to the Shandia, believed to house the souls of their ancestors, leading to a fallout with Calgara. On the day of his departure, after learning why he cut the trees, Calgara reconciled with him, and they promised to meet again before he left the island. Five years later, he returned to Jaya with the king, only to find half of the island gone due to the "Knock Up Stream." The treasure-seeking king was furious, leading to Norland being captured and executed for the crime of lying, dying disgraced as a "liar" by his people. Despite this, his family was exiled and branded as liars, but no one in his family hated him as he was a rare honest man.

He also visited Greenbit in the past, where he helped the Tontatta tribe who were being harassed by evil humans. They hailed him as a hero, and a bronze statue was erected in his honor in their country. He also learned how to grow pumpkins from the Tontatta tribe and later taught the people of Jaya.
