Kenya Oshitari

Kenya has short, blond hair that is often depicted as light brown in the anime and stage musicals.

A distinct feature of his hairstyle is the section of hair at the back that flips up, which the series creator has humorously described as his "chick-like part."

He is known for his signature catchphrase, ending his sentences with "...cchuu hanashi ya," a colloquial way of saying "...that's the story" or "...so to speak."

Kenya is friendly and sociable, maintaining a close, comedic relationship with his cousin Yushi, whom he calls frequently.

He is also quite proud of his teammates, especially his underclassman Kintaro Toyama.

One of his pet peeves is being told that he's just a "nice guy."

Kenya is a third-year student in Class 2 at Shitenhoji Middle School, where he serves on the Broadcasting Committee.

Kenya's playstyle is that of a Counter Puncher, utilizing his phenomenal speed to his advantage.

His greatest weapon is his "Speed Tennis," allowing him to chase down balls with a quickness that surpasses even Akira Kamio.

During his time at the U-17 training camp, he worked to overcome his weakness in maintaining balance.

Yushi Oshitari

Kenya is cousins with Yushi Oshitari of Hyotei Academy, and the two are very close.

They talk on the phone every three days for one to two hours, often engaging in exchanges that resemble a comedy routine.

Before the National Tournament, they proudly bragged to each other about their respective first-year prodigies, Kintaro Toyama and Ryoma Echizen.

Ryoma Echizen

He has a friendly relationship with Ryoma, who, in a rare show of familiarity, calls him "Kenya-san" by his first name.

Shitenhoji Teammates

During the National Tournament, Kenya was a vital player for Shitenhoji.

In the quarterfinals Doubles 2 match, he partnered with Gin Ishida to face Akira Kamio and Tetsu Ishida.

He demonstrated his overwhelming speed by outrunning Kamio even while wearing heavy power anklets.

When his opponents unleashed their "Wild Beast Aura," Kenya removed his weights to reveal his true speed, ultimately forcing them to retire from the match.

He was scheduled to play in Doubles 1 in the semifinals but gave his position to Senri Chitose.

The New Prince of Tennis

After being invited to the U-17 training camp, Kenya lost to his captain, Kuranosuke Shiraishi, in a tiebreak match for a spot on the main roster.

Sent to the revolutionary training squad, he worked on his weakness in balance.

Upon his return to the main camp, he teamed up with Takeshi Momoshiro.

They challenged the high school pair of Yoshiyuki Taira and Tetsuya Hara, who were also Shitenhoji alumni.

Though initially pushed back, their momentum shifted thanks to Momoshiro's "Black Jackknife," leading them to victory and earning Kenya the No. 18 badge.
