Akari Kawamoto

The eldest daughter of the Kawamoto family. At the time of Volume 9, she is 23 years old. Her height is 165 centimeters as of the first season of the anime, although in the early stages of the original work, she was depicted as being taller than Rei, who is 170 centimeters tall.

After the death of her mother, she takes care of her younger sisters while helping out at her grandfather's Japanese confectionery shop, Mikazuki-do, during the day, and working as a hostess at her aunt's Ginza bar, Misaki, about twice a week at night to support the household. She is a renowned beauty in Ginza with a great figure, and has many fans among the regular customers, who are professional shogi players. She plans to take over Mikazuki-do in the future.

She cannot ignore any creature that is skinny, whether it be a cat, bird, or human, and has a unique sense of caring, often picking them up and feeding them to fatten them up. She has a soft spot for plump physiques, and was mesmerized when she first saw Nikaido's build. She is good at cooking, and along with Hinata, she looks after Rei, often lamenting his unhealthy lifestyle.

To keep a promise she made with her mother who passed away early, she starts wearing clothes and mimicking the tone of voice that remind her sisters of their mother. However, this made her seem older than her actual age and was the reason why boys from her class kept their distance, thinking she was "too domestic." She usually keeps her composure as she acts as a mother figure to her sisters, but she was shaken and sometimes cried when Hinata became a target of bullying.

She has a good sense of money, but her calculations regarding the amount of food and calories she consumes are quite rough, and she often regrets eating too much with Hinata. Although not overtly, she appears to have gained weight compared to the early days of the series, and has been chided by Misaki for not being able to fit into any of the bar dresses anymore.
