When the legendary coach Ukai temporarily returned, he couldn't handle the intensity of the practices and drifted away from the volleyball club (returned along with Ennoshita and Kinoshita).

A skilled middle blocker who can handle disorganized tosses and mismatches with the setter. Currently a backup for Hinata and Tsukishima, but has excellent synergy in combination plays with Sugawara. During the fifth set of the Spring Tournament finals, he substituted in while Tsukishima was receiving treatment. He managed to hold his ground with tenacious play, earning praise from Ukai for performing as usual in such a situation.
