Character Introduction
EditA male teacher who serves as the homeroom teacher for Shouya and his classmates. He wears glasses and is known for his lack of inflection and cold demeanor. He did not seem to actively accept Shouko, who has a disability, and left the support for Shouko to the class, sometimes even laughing along with Shouya's jokes that mocked her disability. He has a tendency to be laissez-faire and avoid responsibility, such as undermining Kita's guidance, dismissing bullying in the class as "personal responsibility," and ignoring it.
In the weekly serialized version, when he saw Shouya teasing Shouko, he did give a warning in the staff room. However, the warning to Shouya was only a simple remark like "going too far is not good." During a class meeting about the bullying of Shouko, held with the principal present, he was the first to suspect Shouya, which contributed to Shouya's distrust of people.
In the high school arc, he is still at the elementary school that Shouya and his classmates attended. Although his true intentions are unclear, he seems to have mastered sign language, as there is a depiction of him understanding Shouko's sign language. However, his problematic behavior as a teacher remained unchanged, as he showed a cold attitude towards Shouya when he was bullied in elementary school, but changed his evaluation upon learning that Shouya entered a prestigious high school.
