From then on, she was assigned to eliminate foreign defectors, which included hunting down Fanzell after his own defection.

On the surface, she was a loyal agent of the Diamond Kingdom, but internally she was searching for a way to take revenge on the nation that had destroyed her comrades’ lives.

When Fanzell is captured and taken to the Black Bull hideout in the Clover Kingdom, Mariella seizes the opportunity she has been waiting for.

She manipulates the situation so that Galleo and other Diamond Kingdom spies, who had infiltrated the Clover Kingdom, attack the Black Bull base.

However, this move is actually a trap orchestrated by Mariella.

She arranges matters so that the attacking agents, including Galleo’s forces, are wiped out, effectively purging many of the Diamond Kingdom’s undercover operatives.

Although she was originally introduced in a Black Clover novel, Mariella later appears in the main story as well.
