In contrast to Asta, he is handsome with black hair and sepia eyes, tall and cool, but he competes with Asta over small things and has a childish side where he bluffs. He describes his personality as "hating to lose to death", and Asta also says, "He's not cool, he just hates to lose". He recognizes himself as a "cool person", and when he was caught by Mereoleona, he let out a word saying "I'm not such a character", and when he returned to Hage village before training, he was pressured by the sister and abandoned his character to play the role of a baby in a play. At the grimoire award ceremony, he was chosen for the legendary grimoire with a four-leaf clover engraved on it, and as a result, he was targeted by Revchi for his grimoire and fell into a predicament, but with the help of Asta, who was chosen for the anti-magic grimoire, he reaffirmed his childhood promise.

He achieved remarkable results in the Magic Knights' entrance exam and was desired to join by all the Magic Knights' captains, but he wished to join the "Golden Dawn" as the best way to become the "Wizard King".
