Rui Mizuki

Rui Mizuki has pale skin, pale ruby eyes, and blonde hair. He also has three piercings; a helix earring and a stud piercing on his left ear and an industrial piercing on his right.

Under his uniform shirt, he always wears a black turtleneck and gloves to make sure that he doesn't kill someone with his curse accidentally. He wears his uniform with the shirt four buttons open and the blazer completely unbuttoned.

Rui is friendly and sociable, and, in the MC's words, his actions are playful and comical. Often times referred to as a blond gigolo due to his flirtatious nature (by Lyca), yet, despite all of that, he genuinely seems to care for most of the people around himself, including Obscuary's captain, Edward, whom makes him complain quite often because he either pops out of nowhere or leaves his room a mess that Rui will have to clean up. He is also against violence.

Though he appears as optimistic as he can, it's implied that the curse bothers him more than he lets on, muttering to himself of which is more unfortunate: dying or killing someone else.

Due to being cursed, Rui can't get tired and admits that it's annoying he can't feel tired no matter how much he moves around. Because of this, he doesn't like to be idle and chooses to keep busy. It's also implied it's because of his reaper curse that he takes his work and tasks seriously, despite always giving the impression that he's quite frivolous.

Rui also often reprimands Edward whenever he gets a chance to flirt with the MC, resulting in Rui calling Edward a creep or telling him to stay away. At some point, he even suggests to the MC to get a restraining order on Edward.

He used to be a human just like the MC. However, due to an accident on a past mission, he now bears the curse of a reaper. He seems to try and take it lightly when he can, calling himself the MC's "Curse Twin".

Back when Clementia was still active, Rui used to go there to repent and consult Haku, though he often got scolded by him. It had been a long time since he went there after it went defunct.

In Episode 17, it is revealed that he used to be a member of the Clementia House before he got turned into a reaper; Rui is also among the five murder suspects of the One-Eyed Sleeping Beauty Murder case.

Natural Abilities

Touch of Death — Due to his reaper curse, anything alive that he touches dies and it's shown that essence-like mist gets sucked into his mouth. Their energy is converted to his own which causes Rui to not get tired at all. He claims it only works skin-on-skin contact, so he's able to touch plants with his gloves on and other skin-covering garments. Despite wearing gloves, he is unsure if it stops him from killing others and hesitant to test it.

• Gardening — He tends to the anomalous plants in the Obscuary House's gardens so he could use them as part of his drinks in the bar.

• Bartending — As the owner of a bar, he mixes his own drinks and even has his own original cocktails.

• Cooking — In Episode 10, it is revealed that he is skilled in the kitchen as well.

• Sewing — In one of Ed's Winter voicelines, he mentions Rui having made a dressing gown for him.

• Balloon art — In Episode 17, he makes flowers in the shape of balloon for the MC.

Unique Abilities

• Stigma — Rui's stigma can relieve people's pain and exhaustion. However, the relief only lasts temporarily, and does nothing to actually heal people. His stigma is activated by him blowing a kiss, and golden wind coming from his mouth, enveloping the wounded area. It is unknown what Rui's stigma is called.

• Enhanced recovery — As revealed in Episode 3, and Lucas' Chapter 1 Affinity conversation with the MC, ghouls can recover from their physical injuries five times faster than that of their non-ghoul counterparts as long as they are tended to correctly.

• Enhanced physical strength — According to Professor Hyde in the prologue, one of the traits unique to ghouls are their enhanced strength.

• Enhanced durability — In order to successfully become a ghoul, a person's durability must be able to take the devouring of a demon after a pact is done without suffering any fatal consequences or losing all willpower.

• Immunity to Mesmer Matches — Like the effect of the Kyklos' curse on the MC, it is revealed in Episode 4 that ghouls are also immune to the effects of the Mesmer Matches.
