Kurumi Tokisaki

The third spirit and the protagonist of the spin-off works "Date A Bullet" and "Magical Detective Kurumi Tokisaki's Case Files." She appears as a 16-year-old girl with long black hair covering the left half of her face. She always speaks in a somewhat overly polite and disrespectful ladylike tone, and when her emotions flare up, she has a habit of repeating her words like "〜desu wa, 〜desu wa." Unlike Tooka Yatogami and Yoshino Himekawa, she is deeply integrated into human society to the extent that she can transfer schools, and she possesses the knowledge to understand and apply its mechanisms. Known to have killed over 10,000 people, she is considered the worst spirit. Moreover, she can drag humans into her shadow and "devour" them, which is believed to increase the number of people she has killed, including those devoured. She can also generate spatial quakes at will.

She generally behaves mysteriously, but she has several secrets, such as her love for cats to the extent of frequenting cat cafes, her inability to control her numerous clones and reluctantly responding to unreasonable demands, and feeling ashamed of her past peculiar tastes.

Her identifier is "Nightmare." Her spirit dress is a black and red dress called "Elohim." Her manifested angel is a gigantic clock, at least twice her height, called "Zafkiel." The long and short hands of "Zafkiel" are an old-fashioned rifle and a pistol, respectively, and she fires them as bullets imbued with "Zafkiel's" power. The effects vary depending on the clock's numbers: accelerating time with "First Bullet (Aleph)," slowing down the progression of time with "Second Bullet (Bet)," causing the target to grow with "Third Bullet (Gimel)," rewinding time to heal wounds with "Fourth Bullet (Dalet)," seeing a slight future with "Fifth Bullet (He)," sending consciousness alone to a past body (up to a few days ago) with "Sixth Bullet (Vav)," stopping the target's time with "Seventh Bullet (Zayin)," creating a replica of her past self with "Eighth Bullet (Het)," connecting consciousness with a human in a different timeline with "Ninth Bullet (Tet)," knowing the past memories of the shot target with "Tenth Bullet (Yud)," directly devouring spiritual power to send the target to the future with "Eleventh Bullet (Yud Aleph)," and directly devouring spiritual power to send the target to the past with "Twelfth Bullet (Yud Bet)." However, "Zafkiel" consumes a significant amount of Kurumi's time (lifespan) in exchange for its powers, especially the "Eleventh Bullet" and "Twelfth Bullet," which use up the life of one spirit per shot, hence she had never used them. However, the amount of spiritual power required for the "Twelfth Bullet" varies depending on how far back the date of regression is. Her left eye, usually hidden by her hair, is a golden clock that records Kurumi's time.

In response to the question of whether to prioritize character personality or physical characteristics (looks) when creating a new character, Tachibana stated that in Kurumi's case, the visuals come first.
