Character Introduction

The youngest of the "Dragon Species," known by the nickname "Storm Dragon." Veldora was the first monster Rimuru spoke to when he first appeared in this world, inside a cave in the Great Jura Forest. At that time, Veldora had been sealed in the "Infinite Prison" by the hero Chronoa 300 years earlier.
Before being sealed, he wreaked havoc around the world, feared socially as the "Wicked Dragon." He was repeatedly killed and resurrected by Guy and Velzard, and he has a strong inferiority complex towards his two older sisters, unable to stand up to them. About 2000 years ago, he destroyed the capital of Luminous, the Nightrose Palace, and was often scorned by Luminous as a "damn lizard." He was supposed to disappear while still sealed in another 100 years, but Rimuru named him and shared his surname, becoming Rimuru's first friend in this world. To avoid disappearing, Veldora was stored in Rimuru's "stomach" along with the "Infinite Prison," and was revived when Rimuru, who became a Demon Lord about two years later, acquired the "King of Wisdom." For a while, he was somewhat of a shut-in at Rimuru's house, but later he was put in charge of the final boss in the deepest part of the labyrinth, where he created a room where he could comfortably disperse magical energy without affecting the surface, and now works reasonably busy in the laboratory in the labyrinth with Calis as his assistant. Using the manga knowledge he gained inside Rimuru, he can suppress magical energy, but occasionally needs to release it to prevent it from exploding, which once caused the labyrinth to distort so much that Ramiris felt endangered.
In his dragon form, he is a majestic, huge jet-black dragon, and when he revived using Rimuru's "enhanced clone" as a medium, he took the form of a young man with blonde hair and tan skin, and a sturdy physique. His personality is simple and he tends to get carried away, often causing trouble because he speaks his mind directly, and he is very curious and knowledgeable. Rimuru sees him as fond of humans and prone to loneliness, and because he is easily flattered, he is internally referred to as "Chorogon-san."
He controls the three attributes of wind, water, and space, and among the existing "Dragon Species," he boasts the largest amount of magical energy. He wields storm-based magic "Wind of Death," "Black Lightning," "Storm of Destruction," and an enhanced ultimate ability "Black Storm of Ruin (Ruin Tempest)." After his revival, thanks to Rimuru's ultimate ability "King of Storms" and "Storm Dragon Restoration," he gains complete immortality as long as Rimuru is safe, develops a combat technique derived from manga knowledge called "Veldora-style Fighting Method," and develops a secret technique "Converging Storm Attack (Storm Blast)" that interferes with space by firing "Thunderstorm Roar" from his mouth. He possesses the unique skill "Inquirer," which allows him to know information about his target, and after Rimuru's awakened evolution, he acquired the analytical ultimate ability "King of Inquisition (Faust)." During the war with the Empire, he was shot by Kondo's "God Annihilation Bullet" and forcibly controlled by Rudra, but was "devoured" again by Rimuru who rushed to his aid, escaping control. At this time, Ciel performed an "Ability Modification," and "King of Inquisition" evolved into the ultimate ability "King of Chaos (Nyarlathotep)," making his immortality almost impossible to destroy.
In the manga's bonus novel "Veldora's Slime Observation Diary" at the end of each volume, you can learn Veldora's thoughts from his perspective. Although he resides in Rimuru's alternate space, he has become able to access some sensations using his magical power and shares the information he sees and hears (unknown to Rimuru). Even he, who possesses "Inquirer," mistakenly believes that Rimuru is consciously providing support through the autonomous skill "Great Sage," and slightly overestimates it. By observing Rimuru's actions, which exceed common sense, he admires and reflects on his past actions. He has also drawn Ifrit, who was taken in as a pastime partner, into his subspace, where they observe Rimuru's actions together and enjoy games like shogi and books stored in memory, including subculture and reference books like manga.
