Morio Shigeta

Class B2. He is a同期 (synchronous) of Kai Shimada. Outside of shogi, he is a man of few words, but once he gets comfortable with the group, he becomes sarcastic. He has a stern gaze. His frequent fierce arguments with Harunobu Nikaidō are a cause of stress for Kai Shimada, and since Rei Kiriyama started participating in their study group, the situation has further deteriorated. He is a fan of the Ranging Rook style. During matches with Harunobu Nikaidō, regardless of whether it's a study group or an official game, both of them are known for glaring at each other with intimidating expressions (Kai Shimada refers to this as "raising their face pressure"). Harunobu Nikaidō has described him as "annoying, but I have been encouraged by his single-minded stubbornness, his steadfast aggressive playing style, and his unshakable demeanor." During study group meetings, he sometimes uses Kai Shimada's bath without permission, uses excessive amounts of Kai's expensive shampoo, and complains about the food Kai has prepared. Kai has even complained about this to other shogi players.
