Eren Yeager

The protagonist of this work. Age 15→19 (first appearance at age 10). Height 170cm, weight 63kg (at age 15). Born on March 30. Hails from the Shiganshina District, which protrudes from the southern end of Wall Maria.

A boy with a strong belief in "freedom." He joins the Survey Corps with the dream of exploring the world beyond the walls. At the age of 10 in the year 845, he witnessed his mother being killed by a Titan during an invasion, which became the driving force behind his principle of "exterminating Titans."

He possesses strong courage and initiative, attracting those around him with his powerful influence, but he also has a straightforward and headstrong side. At age 12, he volunteered for the 104th Training Corps and graduated fifth. In addition to excelling in hand-to-hand combat, during his first battle in the defense of Trost District, he nearly lost his life, awakening his Titan transformation ability, which he was previously unaware of. This ability led to him being accepted into the Survey Corps, which he aspired to join, and he was assigned to the Special Operations Squad (commonly known as the Levi Squad). As a member of the Survey Corps, he engaged in various operations and, as a result of uncovering the truth about the existence of forces outside the walls and the history related to the royal family of Paradis Island, it was revealed that he harbored the power of the "Founding Titan," capable of controlling all Subjects of Ymir, including Titan shifters, and the "Attack Titan," which has the ability to see the future. He began to act covertly with his own intentions in mind.

Three years later, in 854, he independently launched an assault on Marley, and after a fierce battle, consumed the "War Hammer Titan." Upon returning to Paradis Island, he incited the "Yeagerists," who became his followers, and by contacting his half-brother Zeke, activated the power of the Founding Titan. Eren refused to cooperate with Zeke's plan at the Coordinate and sided with the Founding Ymir, finally dissolving the hardening of the three walls of Paradis Island and initiating the "Rumbling." Eren himself transformed into an extraordinary giant with an abnormal body, beginning the slaughter of humanity outside Paradis Island. After a fierce battle (the Battle of Heaven and Earth) with the Survey Corps and Marley's warriors who pursued him to stop him, he was ultimately killed by Mikasa, who resolved to free him from his suffering despite her hesitation.

In fact, his actions after his solo operation in Marley were aimed at realizing the future he saw when he touched Historia during the medal ceremony, which was to "eliminate the power of the Titans." He had altered the memories of his comrades after informing them in advance, guiding them to be freed from those memories and Titans upon his death. Additionally, within those memories, he revealed to Armin that he had feelings for Mikasa, and after his death, his head was buried on a hill in his hometown by Mikasa.

Until age 15, he had short hair, but from age 16 to 18, it grew to a medium length. By the time he turned 19, he had grown 13cm taller, and his hair was long enough to be tied at the back.

In the live-action film version, he was portrayed as a young man whose jobs did not last long, and his feelings towards the outside of the walls were significantly different from the original work. He had already been separated from his parents during his childhood. Instead of the original plot where his mother is killed by a Titan, his feelings for Mikasa were emphasized.
