Armin Arlert

15 years old → 19 years old. Height 163 cm, weight 55 kg (at age 15). Born on November 3. A childhood friend of Eren and Mikasa, he was born and raised in the Shiganshina District like them. He has been a close friend of Eren's since before meeting Mikasa. A boy with blonde bob-cut hair and brown eyes (blue eyes in the anime version).

He lost his family in the territory reclamation operation conducted the year after the Titan invasion in 845. Although he is quiet and introverted, he possesses inner strength, intelligence, and curiosity. After reading a book owned by his grandfather, he came to believe that humanity should eventually venture into the outside world, inspiring Eren's longing for the world beyond.

Despite his small stature and low physical ability, he has a brilliant mind and extensive knowledge, showing exceptional talent in academics. After joining the Survey Corps, he embraced the belief that "if there is someone who can change something, it is someone who can discard important things. Those who cannot discard anything cannot change anything." He has led many operations to success, even when faced with harsh decisions.

In the final operation to reclaim Wall Maria, he executed a sacrificial decoy strategy against the Colossal Titan, suffering severe injuries from its hot steam. However, he was revived by inheriting the power of the Colossal Titan through the Titan injection given by Levi and the sacrifice of Bertholdt. A year later, during an expedition outside the walls, he reached the coast of Paradis Island and was moved to tears upon discovering the sea, a saltwater lake he had long dreamed of.

In 854, he continues to be active in the Survey Corps and has learned to wield the power of the Colossal Titan. While aware that the power of the Titans is the only way to protect Paradis Island, he seeks a path to peace and comes into conflict with his former friend, Eren.

While pursuing Eren, who activated the "Rumbling," he was entrusted with the position of Commander of the Survey Corps by Hange, who decided on a sacrificial battle. He became the 15th Commander. During the battle, he was consumed by a Titan and entered the "Paths," where he gained the cooperation of past Titan inheritors, including Bertholdt, through dialogue with Zeke. He succeeded in stopping the Rumbling with Zeke's surrender. After Eren's death, he stepped forward as "the one who stopped Eren Yeager" to prevent the conflict between the Eldians, who lost their Titan powers, and the still-suspicious Marleyans. He seems to have remained in Marley, and three years later, he became an ambassador for peace with Paradis.

He did not rank among the top 10 graduates of the 104th Training Corps, so he is not depicted on the back cover of the manga volumes. In the anime version, he serves as the narrator for the opening summaries and next episode previews. In the live-action film version, he is portrayed as being skilled with machinery.
