Ulysses Barlow

Ulysses Barlow usually appears as a boy.

He is often seen with his faithful black fairy dog, Jimmy, by his side.

Ulysses is quiet and loyal, especially to the Prince who saved him.

He can be conflicted inside, feeling both devoted to the Prince and attached to the Fairy World.

He shows kindness to Jimmy, his dog, showing Ulysses still keeps his own feelings even after becoming part of the Prince’s group.

Legacy of the Ashenbert Family

Ulysses is a descendant of Julius Ashenbert, the Blue Knight Earl from 300 years ago.

The main family would seal the magic of branch family members, so they lost their powers as they grew up.

However, if the main bloodline died out, the Earl title would go to a branch family member.

100 years ago, the main family bloodline ended with Gladys, but even though Ulysses was born with the Aquamarine, he was not accepted by the Ashenbert family.

Saved by the Prince

When he was 20, Ulysses became very sick.

He wandered to a place called Leones and learned that he needed a magical sword to enter the Fairy World.

Too weak to search for it, Ulysses was saved by the Prince, who released his sealed magic and gave him a new body.

The Prince wanted someone with the Earl’s powers on his side and wanted to remove other branch family members.

Thankful to the Prince, Ulysses pledged his loyalty and joined the organization as a close aide.

Ulysses can see and communicate with fairies.

His magical powers are stronger than those of Lydia Ashenbert.

The First Ulysses and the Ashenbert Family

The first Ulysses was a descendant of a branch family from Julius Ashenbert, the Blue Knight Earl.

In the Ashenbert family, branch family members had their magic sealed and lost their powers as they grew.

If the main family ended, the Earl title went to a branch member.

A hundred years ago, even though the main family’s bloodline ended and Ulysses was born with the Aquamarine, the family did not accept him.

Ulysses’s Despair and Prince’s Intervention

At twenty, Ulysses fell ill and arrived at Leones, where he learned a magic sword was needed to reach the Fairy World.

Weak and hopeless, he was rescued by the Prince, who released his magic and gave him a new body.

The Prince aimed to bring someone with the Earl’s power into his group and remove all other branch descendants except Ulysses.

Saved by the Prince, Ulysses became a devoted aide in the organization.

The Second Ulysses and the Tragic End

When Edgar J. C. Ashenbert was with the Prince, the second Ulysses tried to retrieve the magic sword.

After meeting the Mellow (a mystical being), he could not understand the true meaning of the poem and died, pulled into the sea.

The Current Ulysses and His Fate

The boyish Ulysses, like the Prince, struggled to keep his true self.

However, part of him stayed strong.

He brought back Jimmy, the dog he loved as a child, now as a black fairy dog.

Ulysses was strongly drawn to the Fairy World and even wished for its destruction, influenced by the first Ulysses.

When Edgar J. C. Ashenbert asked him to use a bow that only someone with the Earl’s blood could use, to save the Fairy World, Ulysses hesitated but agreed.

During the final fight when a fireball rain attacked, Jimmy tried to protect Ulysses.

But Ulysses shielded Jimmy instead and died.

Rest After Death

Ulysses’s body was placed in the Fairy World’s graveyard, but people said they saw him wandering there.

This was because Lydia Ashenbert’s unborn baby’s soul once entered Ulysses’s body.

Finally, when the baby’s soul was freed from bad fairy magic, Ulysses’s body was buried as a true member of the Ashenbert family, following Edgar’s decision.
