However, when Nishinoya perfectly received Miya Atsumu's jump floater serve, he was the first to be directed a guts pose due to his role as a practice partner. After graduating from Karasuno High School, he is employed by a railway company.

In the drama CD version, he also shows a humorous side, such as drawing on Tanaka's face with a permanent marker while he is asleep (self-named "Ryu-emon").
