Expected to be the "next ace" wing spiker. Being the only first-year to make it into the regular lineup, he possesses not only power but also technique. Kageyama refers to him as a "sharp straight-shooter" due to his skilled straight shots. A proud and overly confident person, he sees Ushijima as a rival, often competing with him, though deep down, he respects Ushijima as an unbeatable opponent. Shirabu thinks of him as "annoyingly prideful and troublesome."

A member of the prefectural first-year select training camp. When Hinata crashed the camp, he was eager to "beat him to a pulp" but ended up happily basking in Hinata's praise when asked to show off his "sharp straight shots" (according to Kindaichi, "This guy's easy to please").

After graduating high school, he becomes a fourth-year university student and joins the Azuma Pharmacy Green Rockets (V League Division 1) as an OH.
