He was the starting setter in the practice match against Karasuno High School, replacing the injured Oikawa. Although he has a frivolous personality, he is serious about volleyball and his seniors. In the semifinals of the Spring High preliminaries, he scolded Kyotani's sulky attitude with harsh words after Kyotani made consecutive mistakes and was substituted.

Before the match against Karasuno in the Spring High semifinals, he tried to speak to Niko by rolling a ball towards him, but a ball from a teammate's reception mistake flew towards Niko, and Kiyoko (from Karasuno) swatted it away, which frightened him.
