Daisuke Kishio is a highly regarded Japanese male voice actor and singer, well-known for his energetic performances and versatile range. Born in 1974 in Mie Prefecture and raised in Aichi Prefecture, he is affiliated with Aoni Production. Kishio is recognized for his extensive work across anime, video games, and dubbing, with standout roles such as Van Flyheight in Zoids, Jeice in Dragon Ball Kai, and Noel Kreiss in Final Fantasy XIII-2. He made his debut in 1996 and has since captivated fans with both leading and unique side characters, leaving a signature mark through memorable music releases and fan events.

Daisuke Kishio was born in Mie Prefecture and grew up in Komaki City, Aichi Prefecture.

From an early age, he showed interests in soccer and swimming during his school years.

His journey towards voice acting started when he was inspired by Jackie Chan's voice actor and encountered parody drama CDs as a teenager.

He attended Tokai Technical High School and was encouraged by his teacher to join the broadcasting club, winning a special award in a student video contest.

Post-graduation, Kishio expressed his desire to pursue voice acting to his parents, who initially opposed, leading him to temporarily work in a factory.

Eventually, they relented, and he went on to study voice acting at the Nagoya campus of Yoyogi Animation Academy, before moving to Tokyo.

There, he trained under Yuji Mitsuya.

In 1996, Daisuke Kishio made his voice acting debut in the anime Mizuiro Jidai, quickly landing a regular role.

He began as an assistant to his mentor, Mitsuya, before joining the Haikyo Voice Actors Studio as part of its 12th cohort.

By 1999, he scored his first leading role as Van Flyheight in Zoids, establishing his presence as a protagonist voice.

Through the early 2000s, he expanded his versatility, starring in main and supporting roles in notable series such as D.C. ~Da Capo~ and Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch.

Kishio adopted his current stage name in 2007, citing no deep reason but saying that the timing and multiple factors (like name fortune and agency requirements) aligned.

With time, he became an irreplaceable voice in anime like Dragon Ball Kai (Jeice), Fairy Tail (Loke/Leo), and Pretty Cure (Fujimura “Fujipi” Shogo), among others.

In addition to anime, he is also prominent in video games, dubbing Western films and animation, and narrating commercials.

Since 2012, Kishio has pursued a solo music career, releasing acclaimed albums and performing live concerts.

He has cycled through major seiyuu agencies, including Tokyo Actor's Cooperative, Horipro, and is currently signed with Aoni Production.

His band and unit activities include groups like BACK DROPS (with Daiki Mizushima), DAIZ, DD (with Daisuke Namikawa), STA☆MEN, and DKHi!.

Daisuke Kishio’s discography includes albums ranking in Oricon’s Top 20, such as BIRTHDAY and several hit singles for anime and games.

He has headlined live events, voice acting concerts, and is frequently cast in major franchise roles and leading parts in both TV anime and games.

Kishio has spoken with deep respect for Masako Nozawa and maintains strong friendships with fellow voice actors.

Notably, he has collaborated and maintained bonds with Daisuke Ono, Daisuke Hirakawa, Takuma Terashima, Tomoaki Maeno, and others, with many appearing as guests in his events.

He values the support and friendship from both senior and junior colleagues in the voice acting community.

Kishio describes himself as shy, often compensating by being talkative in public.

He struggles with a sensitive stomach, food allergies (notably shrimp), pollen allergy, and has faced health setbacks due to norovirus, rubella, and other illnesses.

At times, health issues have led him to postpone or miss major events, but he hasn’t let these hurdles define his vibrant career.

To maintain health, he took up cycling and has even biked to event venues.

He’s shared personal health anecdotes openly through social media and public appearances.

Kishio is known for his high baritone voice and skill in mimicry, especially impersonating fellow voice actor Shotaro Morikubo.

He is passionate about cycling and frequently seeks cycling advice from voice actor Hirofumi Nojima.

He has a reputation for being friendly yet reserved, with a signature humor that endears him to both peers and fans.

Kishio also loves participating in parody and comedic voice event projects, cementing his status as a fan-favorite for both serious and lighthearted roles.

He has contributed to narration in various commercials, participated in stage and radio dramas, and voiced characters in theme park attractions and educational programs.

Kishio’s multi-faceted career includes live performances, musical releases, drama CDs, and extensive game/animation voice work, underscoring his versatility and widespread appeal among Japanese pop culture fans.
