Helga

Thorfinn's mother. She is the daughter of Sigvaldi, the leader of the Jomsvikings, and the niece of Thorkell. She agreed with Thors' decision to stop fighting and left her father's side with the infant Ylva. She has a gentle personality, but there is an episode where she became furious when Thors, disappointed that their child was a daughter, neglected to name her. In a panic, Thors named her after his own mother, and he later recounted this as the only time his wife got angry. According to Leif, who reunited with Thorfinn in York, her health had deteriorated by 1014. She reunited with Thorfinn in December 1018. Unlike Ylva, she recognized Thorfinn at first sight and welcomed him warmly. She lives surrounded by her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren.
