Possesses top-tier physical attributes required for basketball, suggested to be the strongest of the "Generation of Miracles" and the strongest center. Known for his extraordinary physique and long hair reaching his shoulders. Unlike the other four with unique skills and abilities, he is a monster who stands among the "Generation of Miracles" just by playing basketball normally. Although he has a natural talent for basketball, he doesn't particularly like it, viewing it as a flawed sport where the biggest and most destructive player wins, and shows intense disdain for those passionate about basketball. However, he is competitive and never skips practice to win. During his Teikō days, after his talent blossomed, he stopped practicing as no one could match him physically.

Generally doesn't listen to others, but after a crushing defeat to Akashi among the "Generation of Miracles," he became obedient only to him, refusing to fight him as he believes he can't win. After joining the Yōsen basketball team, he follows Himuro's instructions despite complaining. Initially, he didn't understand Kuroko like Midorima, but came to acknowledge him through matches. Though he occasionally teases Kuroko, they have a relatively good relationship and mutual respect, but their differing basketball philosophies sometimes lead to clashes. He calls his teammates with unique nicknames ending in "chin."

Usually laid-back and often eating snacks when not playing basketball. His emotions fluctuate greatly when it comes to food, sometimes showing intense anger. His catchphrase is "I'll crush you." He often speaks bluntly, unintentionally hurting others. As mentioned, he quickly loses interest in opponents he deems unbeatable.

Primarily stays under the basket focusing on defense, making it difficult even for Aomine to score against him. However, his true strength lies in offense, having scored 100 points in a single game. Participating in offense restores the natural rhythm of basketball, enhancing his defense. His signature dunk, "Hammer of Destruction," can break the goalpost.

In the Winter Cup match against Seirin, he almost gave up but regained his fighting spirit after being scolded by Himuro, entering the "Zone." However, his legs couldn't keep up with his full-force offense, leading to an injury and a narrow defeat. He was shown crying out of frustration, indicating an unconscious passion for basketball. After the loss, he watched the match with Himuro.

In the "EXTRA GAME" against Jabberwock, he was overwhelmed by Silver, who had superior physicality. Remembering his teammates' advice, he unleashed his full power, which he had subconsciously restrained to avoid injuring opponents, instilling fear in Silver. However, he suffered a severe hand fracture from Silver's rough play and entrusted the victory to Kuroko, who substituted for him.

During his Teikō days, his academic performance was third after Akashi and Midorima.
