Ami Chōno

Ami Chōno, an instructor for the Sensha-dō (Tankery) at Oarai Girls' Academy, is a First Lieutenant in the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force's Fuji School Tank Instructional Unit. She uses a prototype Type 10 tank. She is also a reinforcement committee member of the Japan Sensha-dō Federation and serves as the chief referee in official match finals. Her uniform skirt has been altered into a mini-skirt. Upon her arrival, she parachuted with her tank from a C-2 transport aircraft into the school's parking lot using LAPES, crashing into the principal's foreign luxury sports car (resembling a Ferrari F40) and then crushing it with the tracks [ep 3].

She allows inexperienced students to engage in a full-scale training match without teaching them how to drive properly on the first day. Her instruction involves more onomatopoeia than Miho's and is quite rough and ready, but she is strict about manners.

She has been taught by Shiho Nishizumi, the instructor of the Nishizumi Style Sensha-dō and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force's tank units, and knows both Maho and Miho. Subsequently, she watches the match against Saunders University High School and inspects the team's practice. In the movie, she works tirelessly for Oarai Girls' Academy's survival and serves as the chief referee in the match against the University Selection Team.

In the Drama CD, she hosts a radio program called "Chōno Cuts" with Miho as her assistant. Her responses to listeners' letters are usually casual, but they sometimes become spot-on advice, albeit retrospectively.
