She served as the class representative throughout elementary, middle, and high school and is a female student who wears glasses. Although she is a serious honor student, she tends to act in a sycophantic manner towards those around her and has a selfish and self-preserving side, where she blames others when she feels cornered (as Shouya puts it, "she only cares about herself"). While she did not directly bully her classmate Shouko, she was said to have spoken ill of her behind her back along with Ueno. She has blood type B.

She attended the same middle and high school as Shouya, and in the high school arc, they ended up in the same class. After becoming aware of her own charm, she changed her hairstyle and switched from glasses to contact lenses. She has feelings for her classmate Mashiba in high school and actively approaches him, but he looks down on her. She continues to interact with Ueno even after they attend different high schools and, knowing Ueno's feelings for Shouya, often takes on the role of a cupid for the two.

Her pride in always being earnest in her student life contributes to her complete lack of awareness that she bullied Shouko, and she is convinced that interacting with Shouko, who has a disability, was a valuable experience for her. She believed that Shouya being bullied by his classmates as a form of betrayal was a natural consequence.

Later, her sycophantic nature is unexpectedly pointed out as "genuinely disgusting" (despite having exposed Shouya's past to the class earlier, she attempted to gather a thousand paper cranes for Shouya, who was in a coma, but her intentions were seen through, and she experienced frustration when she couldn't gather enough).
