Tago is not especially strong, but he has a sharp mind for gathering information and talking to people. He once led a group of thieves called the "Hyakki Yako" but was defeated by Senya. Ever since then, Tago has tried to get revenge, but things never go his way, and he often ends up escaping in a funny way. Over time, Tago finds new weapons, does research on magic, and even helps the main characters, but he never loses his mischievous spirit. Later, he decides to stop doing bad things and becomes an apprentice under Songen. Tago’s child, Tako, is much calmer and serves as Songen’s helper.
