Introduction

Edit
Mist Breathing, used by the Mist Pillar, who is 14 years old and the youngest pillar of his generation. He became a pillar only two months after taking up the sword, a prodigy rumored to be a descendant of the "Sun Breathing Swordsman," but more accurately, he is a descendant of the twin brother, Yoriichi Tsukiguni (Upper Moon One, Kokushibou). His Nichirin sword has a blade as white as mist. His swordsmiths were Tetuido and later, Tetuana Mori Kozou, a key character in the Swordsmith Village Arc.
He uses both "I" and "me" inconsistently, showing his unstable nature. He is always expressionless, with little interest in others, often lost in thoughts unrelated to the situation at hand. During the Hashira Meeting about the treatment of the Kamado siblings, he showed no interest, saying he would forget soon so it didn't matter to him. His prickly remarks are a reflection of his sense of responsibility and justice, not malice.
He suffers from amnesia, with no memories before he began wielding a sword, and even as a corps member, he struggles to remember new information for long. This contributes to his laid-back demeanor.
He used to live with his father (voiced by Noriaki Sugiyama), mother (voiced by Aimi Numakura), and twin brother Yuuichirou, helping their lumberjack father. At age 10, he lost his parents and lived with Yuuichirou. At 11, Amane Ubuyashiki told them they were descendants of the first Breathing Swordsman, sparking his interest in swordsmanship, which Yuuichirou strongly opposed. After a fierce argument, they stopped speaking. That summer, after a demon attack severely wounded Yuuichirou, he fought the demon from dawn until it turned to dust at sunrise. Yuuichirou's dying confession revealed his concern for him, leading to their reconciliation before Yuuichirou's death. He was then taken in by the Ubuyashikis, an event that triggered his memory disorder.
In the Swordsmith Village, he initially fought Upper Moon Four, Hantengu, with Tanjirou but was separated by a strong wind. Prioritizing the rescue of the village chief, he later saved Kotetsu from Upper Moon Five, Gyokko's familiar, recalling Tanjirou's words that good deeds return to the doer. He protected Kotetsu and the blacksmith while fighting Gyokko, awakening as a marked one. He thanked Tetuana Mori for the sword and mentally apologized to Tetuido, regaining his kindness. He then decapitated Gyokko, understanding the conditions of the mark, which became known to the other pillars.
After regaining his memory, he showed a brighter side, speaking politely to senior pillars. In the Pillar Training, he was kind to those who completed their tasks but harsh to those who did not, according to the fanbook.
In the Infinity Castle, he met his ancestor, Kokushibou (Upper Moon One), and was defeated, losing his left arm and leg. He worried for Genya when Kokushibou attacked him, treated him, and then joined the fight against Kokushibou with Giyuu and Uzui, contributing to the victory by manifesting a Red Blade. He died after the battle, reuniting with Yuuichirou in the afterlife.
