Sakuta Azusagawa

The protagonist of the series, first appearing in Volume 1. He is a second-year student in Class 1 at Minegahara High School. The title "Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai" refers to him.

He lives in an apartment near Fujisawa station with his sister Kaede (Kanaede) and handles all household chores. He works part-time at a family restaurant and, after entering university, also tutors.

In middle school, he was rumored to have hospitalized someone in a violent incident (known as the "hospitalization incident"), which led to his isolation at school.

In his third year of middle school, he suddenly had a bleeding chest and was taken to the hospital (the truth behind the "hospitalization incident"). During his hospital stay, he escaped to Shichirigahama, where he met Shoko Makinohara, a second-year student from Minegahara High School, who greatly influenced him and helped him accept "Kaede," a dissociative identity of his sister. After consulting with their father, Kaede and he moved from Yokohama to Fujisawa, where no one knew about Kanaede's past, to live together.

He followed Shoko, his savior and first love, to Minegahara High School in Kamakura. On the day he saw the acceptance announcement, he threw his smartphone into the sea because Kaede was scared, and since then, he has lived without owning any mobile phones, even though Kanaede has overcome her fear of smartphones.

He usually has a somewhat detached attitude and spends his time in a listless manner, not trying to make many friends and deliberately ignoring social cues. However, he cherishes his few friends and sister, sometimes showing great initiative. He couldn't save Kaede from bullying, no one believed them about the Adolescence Syndrome that attacked them, and the words he received from Shoko made him strongly want to help others who are in similar situations or afflicted by Adolescence Syndrome.

In Volume 9, he is accepted into the Department of Statistical Science at Yokohama Municipal University, the same university as Mai. Being in a relationship with Mai, a national actress, makes Sakuta a well-known figure within the university.
