A handsome young man characterized by long eyelashes at the corners of his eyes and a piercing in his left ear. His well-groomed appearance attracts attention from women wherever he goes, and he is also active as a fashion model. Official fan books even describe him as "beautiful." He has a habit of adding "っち" to the names of those he acknowledges and ending his sentences with "〜っス." While sociable, he can be arrogant and condescending to those he dislikes. Initially, he behaved arrogantly even towards his seniors, and was reprimanded by Kasamatsu for his haughty behavior. However, after losing a practice match to Seirin, he took a more serious attitude towards basketball, almost quitting his modeling career, and gradually earned the trust of his teammates as an ace.

He calls himself "Kuroko's best friend." As a member of the Generation of Miracles, he was the first to face Kuroko and Kagami. After his defeat, he began to see Seirin as a worthy rival. He frequently attends Seirin's matches and often shows support for Kuroko and Kagami.

In middle school, he had excellent athletic abilities but quickly became better than others, leaving him uninterested in any sport and not joining any specific club. However, in the spring of his second year, he saw Aomine practicing and recognized him as an opponent he couldn't beat, which led him to join the basketball club out of admiration. He often challenged Aomine to 1-on-1 matches during practice but never won.

However, he cannot mimic the techniques of other Generation of Miracles members who surpass him in individual physical abilities, and due to his short basketball history, he often refers to himself as the "lowest-ranked" or the "fifth man" among the Generation of Miracles. However, during the match against Tōō Academy in the Inter-High, he succeeded in mimicking Aomine's play style by letting go of his admiration for him. In the Winter Cup match against Fukuda Sōgō, he used the "perfect mimicry" technique, which allowed him to use all the techniques of the Generation of Miracles, thanks to Kuroko's encouragement.

In the Jabberwock match in 'EXTRA GAME,' he simultaneously activated perfect mimicry and the Zone, overwhelming Silver for a short time, earning praise from Midorima as "the strongest on the court at that moment."
