Mithrun is the leader of the canary squad in Delicious in Dungeon and an elf known for his incredible teleportation magic and lack of any normal desires. He is driven only by his hatred for demons, with all other emotions and needs lost due to a terrible encounter in his past. With his icy demeanor, unmatched fighting skills, and tragic history as a former dungeon master, Mithrun stands out as a unique and powerful figure in the story.
Mithrun is a slim elf man with long, flowing silver hair and pitch-black eyes without irises.
He stands about 155cm tall with a BMI of 21.
His right eye is a prosthetic and often half-closed due to being damaged.
Both of his ears are missing their upper halves.
He is physically fit, with a surprising muscular build noted by Kabru as a "strong back."
When transformed into a human using the changeling, his built physique is even easier to see.
Mithrun rarely shows any expression or emotion.
He speaks very little, saying only what is necessary.
He has almost no sense of direction and often gets lost.
All of his normal desires—like hunger, thirst, or the urge to sleep—are gone.
In daily life, he has to rely on others like Cithis or Kabru to help him survive.
He has a strong hatred for demons and is driven only by the wish for revenge.
He openly admits to having looked down on everyone, even his own brother.
Mithrun is from the noble Kerensil family on the Northern Central Continent.
His family made their fortune in investments and is very famous.
He is the younger son: his family includes his father, mother, and older brother.
He took his brother’s place in the canary squad because his brother was sickly.
When Mithrun was younger, he was friendly and seemed like the perfect good guy, but it was all an act.
Inside, he looked down on his family and colleagues, especially his brother.
One day, while investigating a dungeon, he found a magic mirror. This showed him a vision of his brother and his crush together and made him envious.
A demonic goat appeared and tempted him: “Don’t you want a life where you didn’t join the squad?”
By wishing for this, Mithrun accidentally created a dungeon and became its master.
As the dungeon grew and attracted adventurers, he made more wishes to fight them off, making the dungeon and the demon even stronger.
Finally, the now-enormous demon devoured almost all of Mithrun’s desires and destroyed his eye and ears, throwing him out of the world he’d made.
He survived, driven only by the desire for revenge.
He was found by Milsiril and rehabilitated over many years, eventually rejoining the canary squad.
His loss of desire is the reason he feels almost nothing and has trouble with basic daily activities.
His poor sense of direction comes from focusing only on demons, ignoring everything else.
The main reasons he’s squad leader are his abilities, experience as a former dungeon master, and the fact that he cannot be tempted by demons anymore.
Mithrun is a master of teleportation magic.
He can transfer objects or people just by touching them for a split second.
What he actually does is “swap” the target with something at the destination—so, for example, someone teleported into a wall leaves a human-shaped chunk of stone behind.
He uses this ability creatively in battle—embedding enemies in walls, switching parts of bodies with objects, and so on.
His sense of direction is terrible, though, so misfires often happen.
Mithrun’s physical strength and agility are extremely high for an elf.
He can fight unarmed against armed enemies and crush them with a mix of hand-to-hand skills and teleportation.
He trains by doing one-arm push-ups in his small room on the ship.
He also seems to know some healing and sleep spells and is very knowledgeable about monsters.
He has never died inside the dungeon.
Mithrun works with Cithis and Otta, who help manage imprisoned criminals.
He investigates Sissel before the events of the story and is confident about Sissel’s identity and history.
With Kabru, Mithrun is able to act together as companions after falling into the lower levels of the dungeon.
He has a complicated but ultimately good relationship with his older brother, who was once the focus of his jealousy.

Introduction and Dungeon Entry
Mithrun leads the canary squad to the island to seal and control the dungeon that Laios Touden and his party are exploring.
He listens to Kabru’s peaceful plan but still orders Pattadol to stir up the greed of surface adventurers, causing chaos to drive them out.
His plan works: giant walking mushrooms appear and panic erupts. Mithrun uses teleportation to defeat them.
Confrontation with the Mad Magician
After destroying the mushroom, Mithrun finds the mad magician and his chimera.
He dominates the fight, but Kabru intervenes out of concern that the elves will resolve things their own way.
Both Mithrun and Kabru fall with the magician into the dungeon’s deeper levels and are forced to work together.
Search for the Devil’s Book
Mithrun hurries to catch up to Laios' group due to his hatred of the demon, the Winged Lion.
He lets Pattadol manage the others and focuses on searching for the book that seals the Winged Lion.
He finds Marcille Donato and Izutsumi in Sissel’s attic but cannot communicate well with Marcille, as she does not know what the Winged Lion is.
He teleports Izutsumi out of the way and moves Marcille to where the rest of his team are.
During a discussion, Pattadol misidentifies Marcille as a high elf; Mithrun tries to reveal her true identity and starts searching for the book again.
When the book is hidden on Marcille, he is stopped, which allows Marcille to release the Winged Lion demon.
He attacks Marcille with pure rage, but she gains power as the new dungeon master and is able to blow off Mithrun’s head with magic.
He is the only person killed by Marcille in the story.
Past: The Tragedy of the Dungeon Master
Mithrun once became a dungeon master due to his jealousy and wish for “another life.”
He built an ideal world, but his wishes empowered the demon who eventually destroyed him, eating all his desires except for revenge.
After being rescued and rehabilitated over 20 years, his only remaining drive is hatred for demons.
Epilogue: A New Life
After the Winged Lion is finally destroyed, Mithrun loses the last of his desires and collapses.
But with Kabru’s help, he regains a reason to live.
He decides to stay in Melini and start a new life making soba noodles and studying monsters and dungeons.
- "I think it’s better to kill him before he becomes the dungeon master."
- "All my desires are gone. All that’s left is revenge."
- "I used to look down on everyone—even my own brother."
