A former pirate who lives on the Island of Rare Beasts.

Originally from the East Blue. Aged 43 to 45. Birthday is August 5th. Height is 130 cm. Leo. Blood type X. Favorite food is melons harvested on the Island of Rare Beasts.

He calls himself the guardian of the forest, a man stuck in a treasure chest. Since getting stuck, he has been unable to cut his hair, resulting in a massive afro. According to him, due to years of physical inactivity, his body has miraculously fit into the chest, and trying to forcefully break free would damage his body. Therefore, he has completely given up on getting out of the chest. Because of his appearance, Luffy calls him "Old Man Brush." His pirate ship during his pirate days was the "Machina Hallelujah."

22 years ago, he landed on an uninhabited island with his crew, following a treasure map. They found a treasure chest at the top of a rocky mountain, but he fell and accidentally got stuck in an empty chest below, knocking him unconscious and leaving him stranded on the island. Since then, he has stayed on the island out of attachment to the treasure, and has been shooting pirates who come to the island seeking treasure or rare beasts, calling it "the judgment of the forest."

He attacked Luffy and his crew when they arrived on the island, but after various twists and turns, they became close. After guarding the treasure chest for 20 years, he was told by Luffy that it was empty and was invited to join their crew, but he declined in order to protect the island's rare beasts, his long-time friends, and stayed on the island. In the cover story "Buggy's Crew Adventure Chronicles," he became friends with Buggy, who crashed on the island.
