Shouta Magatsuchi is an 11-year-old boy who attends Oborotsuka Elementary School and comes from a family of wizards. His life takes a wild turn when he accidentally summons Lucoa while trying to become a full-fledged magician. Shouta now lives with the dragon Lucoa as his familiar, leading to funny and awkward daily adventures. While he’s serious about magic practice and being responsible, Shouta struggles with Lucoa’s bold behavior and his own desire to grow up fast.
Shouta has a slightly androgynous look with longer hair, which makes people sometimes mistake him for a girl when he’s dressed up. He is 138 cm tall. Even his classmates and younger students say he looks cute, and he's often told he looks like a girl. His soft appearance is one of his worries.
Shouta is calm, kind, and very hard-working. He always wants to become recognized as a real magician, so he practices magic every day. He’s reliable for his age and cares a lot about doing things the right way. Though he is usually mature, he sometimes gets ahead of himself and tries dangerous things. Shouta is gentle, thoughtful, and cares for those around him, like when he looked after Lucoa when she was sick. He’s easily embarrassed, especially when dealing with Lucoa’s very physical way of showing affection.
Shouta studies at Oborotsuka Elementary School, in fifth grade. His mother is a housewife, and his father is an alchemist who works as an executive at the same company where Kobayashi works. Shouta is proud to be from a family of magicians and keeps his magic life a secret from normal people.
Shouta gets along with his classmates Kanna Kamui and Riko Saikawa, even though they often talk to him like equals even though he’s older. He becomes friends with Makoto Takiya and Fafnir through gaming, and looks up to Takiya as a cool older brother figure. Even though he initially thinks Lucoa is just a succubus because of her appearance and behavior, he gradually grows to respect and care for her after learning the truth about her dragon form.

The Accidental Summon
One day, wanting to prove himself as a full-fledged magician, Shouta tries to summon a demon. He almost ends up summoning a dangerous one he couldn't handle, but Lucoa senses the trouble and comes instead.
Living With Lucoa
From that day, Lucoa lives with Shouta as his familiar, and he struggles every day with her bold behavior. At first, he doesn't believe that Lucoa is a dragon because of her glamorous looks, and thinks she is a succubus. He is constantly confused by her constant physical affection and exposure.
Life at School and with Friends
At school, his classmates and even Kanna Kamui and Riko Saikawa see Lucoa as his "older sister." He’s known for being responsible and caring to his friends, like when he brings steamed buns for Kanna and Riko. Even though other magicians are jealous that his father is a great wizard, Shouta stands tall and gets good results in magic exams.
Understanding Lucoa
As time goes on, Shouta learns about Lucoa’s true form and her powerful abilities. He starts to feel a bit inferior because of her strength but appreciates that Lucoa likes him and chooses to stay with him.
Comedy in Everyday Life
It's a running joke that Shouta always gets flustered and storms off whenever Lucoa does something too bold. There are also cute moments, like when he looks surprisingly adorable in girls’ clothes or when he cares for Lucoa when she is sick.
- Shouta is one of the few characters with common sense in the story.
- He sometimes talks about magic in front of Riko Saikawa, but she just thinks it's something boys his age love.
- Even though he is mature, his classmates tease him for being "the obedient type" when he grows up.
- The show's author designed Shouta to be cute, kind, and cool enough to be popular with girls in his class.
