A priest of the religious group "Wall Cult," which worships the walls as divine gifts. He views Eren, whose background is unknown, as more dangerous than the Military Police and advocates for his complete denial of existence. During the special military tribunal, he argued for Eren's immediate disposal and opposed the complete sealing of the gates based on doctrine. After losing his family due to his indulgence in alcohol, he joined the cult and showed such devout faith that he would choose martyrdom to protect the secrets of the "walls" held by the cult. However, his interactions with the Survey Corps and refugees caused his values to waver, and he informed the Survey Corps about Krista's background. After the state of high alert within Wall Rose subsided, he was hidden in the barracks by Hange, who feared his position would worsen for providing information to the Survey Corps. However, he was tortured and killed by the hands of Central First Brigade's Gel Sannes and others who tracked him down. According to Hange, his original profession was a chair craftsman. In the anime version, he first appeared in the scene of Shiganshina District before the Titan invasion in 845. He was engaged in missionary activities, but no one seemed to listen.
