As a member of the Council of Elders and a single man, he serves as the vice-principal at the high school attended by Hime Yarizakura, Tōka Kishi, and others. Due to the Council of Elders' new policy to minimize contact with the outside world, he was temporarily put on leave, but he is a highly trusted teacher among both the principal and the students.
When he underwent a supernatural beings' checkup as a child, Midoriko Amano approached him, along with flowers, with a promise that she would become his future wife. Later, because of the Council's policy of cutting off contact with the outside world, on the last day he was able to go outside, after finishing a conversation with the principal, he was walking through the high school working alongside Noriko Shiina—however, it turned out that the one disguised as Shiina was actually Midoriko.
Recalling the promise made in their childhood, he initially tried to reason with Midoriko out of a sense of duty as a teacher, but moved by Shiina's stern encouragement and Midoriko's strong feelings, he accepted them and promised to return in November.
