Randall Luftair is the vice-captain of the Crimson Lion Kings squad in the Clover Kingdom and a user of air-based magic who fights with a martial arts style that lets him move freely through the sky and strike with invisible blasts of compressed air.
Randall serves as the vice-captain of the Crimson Lion Kings, one of the nine Magic Knight squads of the Clover Kingdom.
He is a senior combat officer who supports the squad’s leadership and commands powerful offensive magic in battle.
Randall is portrayed as a serious and disciplined fighter, reflecting the martial pride typical of the Crimson Lion Kings.
After the events in which his body is taken over by an elf, he feels deep regret and takes part in training to atone and grow stronger.
Randall’s main magic attribute in the original work is Air Magic.
In the anime adaptation, this is described as Atmosphere Magic, though it is unclear whether this refers to Randall’s own attribute or that of the elf who possessed him.
He uses his magic in combination with a martial-arts-like stance and movements, kicking against the air itself to maneuver through the sky.
By striking or thrusting with his palms and fists, he launches dense, invisible masses of air that smash into opponents with explosive force.
His combat style is highly mobile, allowing him to move up, down, and across the battlefield in three dimensions while firing off rapid, unseen air attacks.
Because the attacks are often invisible, it can be very difficult for opponents to read or dodge his blows.
During the large-scale Reincarnation Magic incident, Randall’s body is possessed by an elf.
Under the elf’s control, he turns against his own squad and launches a surprise assault on the Crimson Lion Kings’ headquarters.
In this rampage, Randall pushes Leopold Vermillion and other members of the squad to the brink of defeat with his powerful air attacks and superior mobility.
However, the tide turns when Fuegoleon Vermillion awakens, now bearing the fire spirit Salamander, greatly amplifying his power.
Fuegoleon confronts the elf-possessed Randall, and a fierce battle between fire and air magic follows.
Ultimately, Fuegoleon overpowers Randall and successfully restrains him, bringing an end to the elf’s control over his body.
In the anime-original six-month training arc, which takes place after the elf conflict, Randall appears as part of the joint training efforts among Magic Knights.
He carries a strong sense of remorse for having been used to attack his own comrades while under elf control, even though it was not his will.
Motivated by this guilt and a desire to protect his squad properly, he throws himself into the training.
There he works to refine his air-based techniques and improve his coordination with other Magic Knights.
Air / Atmosphere Magic
Explosive Air Wave Palm
Randall releases a compact mass of air from his palm heel, similar to a palm strike.
Upon impact, this compressed air explodes outward, blasting the target away with tremendous force.
Shattering Air Pressure Shot
He fires a bullet-like cluster of highly compressed air that is nearly invisible to the naked eye.
This makes the attack difficult to see or predict, while still packing enough pressure to pierce or severely damage targets on contact.
