Tae Sekihara

A staff member and the daughter of the owner of the beef hot pot restaurant "Akabeko." She refers to herself as "uchi." Due to Akabeko often being a hangout spot for Kenshin and his friends, she is very close to them. She originally seems to be friends with Kaoru. She loves gossip and is interested in love stories, but is very sensitive about her age. When Kaoru revealed her age as "2× years old," she was petrified. She is 161 cm tall, weighs 48 kg, and was born in June 1849. Her zodiac sign is Gemini, and her blood type is AB.

She has a strong sense of duty and compassion. She has narrow eyes (slit eyes) and rarely shows her pupils. In the first anime series, she appears from episode 2 and has her eyes open. Her personality is more assertive than in the original work, and in the early Kyoto arc, she gets angry and refuses when Sanosuke indirectly suggests asking for travel money to Kyoto. She also knows about Yahiko's circumstances and informs Kenshin and the others.

She is from Kansai (Kyoto Prefecture). Her hobby is collecting ukiyo-e prints, especially those by Tsunan Tsukioka. She is 30 years old and single.

Her design is a reuse of a discarded design for Kenshin. In the complete edition volume 22, her bangs have more volume. She is a gentle person and an otaku. According to the author, she is "a person born in the wrong era."

In the Kinema version, she is set as the "manager" of Akabeko.
