The Demon Sword Arabuki, which manipulates the wind, demonstrates a wide array of abilities—not only in offense and defense but also by granting its wielder the power of flight. This spirit blade was passed down in the family of Raidō Zanzō, but it was entrusted to Shinsuke Hyoudou. At first, Shinsuke was lacking in both spiritual power and sword talent, struggling even to draw the blade. However, by learning to communicate with virtual personalities from Shakugan and through his battle with Resshin, he eventually mastered the use of the sword.
The Demon Sword Arabuki can unleash not only direct attacks but also long-range strikes by firing blades of wind, linear accelerations akin to the "Wind God Spear," and a variety of techniques such as repelling opponents during a sword lock. In the finale of Part One, the sword becomes corrupted by darkness, further amplifying its spiritual power. Arabuki itself notes that Shinsuke is able to freely manipulate wind specifically because he lacks both spiritual power and sword talent.
In Part Two, the sword is broken during a battle with Mudo, but its will and power are not lost. The blade is reforged, resulting in a sword that is only half as long as before. Arabuki formally acknowledges Shinsuke as its true master, and Raidō Zanzō agrees that there is no need to return it, thus formally passing the sword to Shinsuke. Meanwhile, the broken tip of the blade is reforged into a short sword named Itakebi ("Wailing Shot") and is given to Tsukiko.
