Veronica Rickenbacker

Introduced in the Academy arc, 16 years old. Chise's classmate. From the Rickenbacker family, known for their medical expertise as part of the "Seven Shields." The youngest child, with six older siblings who have killed each other, leaving only three survivors. Often seen with the Atwood siblings and Philomela. Usually gentle and always smiling, but it's hard to tell what she's really thinking. She once casually mentioned to Chise the murderous nature of the Rickenbacker family, even among themselves, calling it a story where only villains emerge, indicating she sees herself as a villain. She dislikes her family home, referring to it as a cage or comparing it to a poisonous insect. It is by her will that Philomela, who comes from the Sergeant family, is able to attend the academy. During the turmoil over the forbidden book "The Testament of Carnamagos," Philomela steals her magical power, leaving her unconscious.

In fact, it was Veronica who previously passed the Testament of Carnamagos to Lizbeth, and introducing the Webster family for the creation of the forgery was the cause of the tragedy. There are implications that she instigated the silencing. When Lizbeth was defeated by Chise and others, it was revealed that Veronica used a werewolf child's familiar to steal the forbidden book and Zaccaroni's magical tome.
