Zesta

Zesta is an elderly man. He normally wears the robes of a priest and appears as the leader of the Axis Church. His appearance is that of a classic old church leader.

Irresponsible Yet Bold

Zesta is extremely bold and doesn't worry about rules or manners. He is often irresponsible and likes to do things his own way.

Habitually Perverted

He has a very perverted side. He tries to hit on any pretty girl, no matter her age. Zesta says and does embarrassing things without shame.

Loyal to Desire

As the leader of a church known for attracting selfish people, Zesta always follows his own desires and is not afraid to show his true feelings.

Deeply Anti-Eris

He holds a strong grudge against the Eris Church and its followers. He often teams up with other Axis followers to target Eris believers.

Incredibly Insightful

While he usually acts foolish, Zesta can quickly see through things. He is one of the few who recognized Aqua’s true identity.

Zesta serves as the high priest and top leader of the Axis Church in the water city Alcanretia.

He appears mostly in the spin-off series, KONOSUBA: An Explosion on This Wonderful World!, rather than the main story.

Powerful Arkpriest

Though he seems unreliable, Zesta is an expert in his priest class.

He once forced the high-ranking demon Arnes to retreat in a fight.

• Holy Light Exorcism: Summons a white magic circle and shines white light to drive away demons.
• Blessing: Temporarily increases the target’s luck stat.
• Reflect: Creates a wall of light to bounce back attacks.

Cecily

Cecily, another Axis Church member, sometimes feels shocked by Zesta's behavior because even she finds him a bit too free-spirited.

Aqua

Zesta is one of the few people who realize that Aqua is actually the goddess Aqua, thanks to his sharp insight.

Megumin

When Megumin had no money, Cecily took her to Zesta. Zesta tried to make Megumin call him "dad" or "big brother," and even wanted her to sit on him like a chair, which made Megumin very uncomfortable. Still, he gave her money for travel and cast a luck-boosting spell to help her, showing he is not a completely bad person.

Zesta spends a lot of time making trouble for members of the Eris Church.

Zesta’s Actions in Alcanretia

When Megumin was broke and stuck in Alcanretia, Cecily brought her to Zesta. Zesta tried to take advantage of her kindness by asking her to call him “dad” or “big brother”, and making strange requests. Despite his weirdness, he helped Megumin by giving her money and a boost in luck when she left for Axel.

Detecting Aqua’s Identity

Zesta heard about Aqua cleansing the city's water quickly after it was poisoned by Hans. Realizing this was far beyond the abilities of any normal priest, and after hearing Aqua’s description, he guessed she was the true goddess Aqua.

Rivalry With Serena

After learning from Kazuma Satou that the demon Serena made Aqua run away from home, Zesta tried to punish her. He did this by harassing her and even tried to take away her “innocence,” showing once again he acts in wild and shocking ways, even as a religious leader.

Battle Against Arnes

When a powerful demon named Arnes attacked, Zesta proved his strength as an arkpriest by forcing Arnes to retreat.

• Zesta rarely appears in the main story, with most of his character shown in the spin-off series.
• His bizarre actions sometimes surprise even his fellow Axis followers.
• Despite his flaws, he helps others from time to time.
